Yet another problem

Yet another problem

Postby jmack » Tue Aug 24, 2004 4:34 pm

While driving down the road, the plastic cover for the A-pillar popped off and would not go back into place. Dealer is ordering a new one. This happen to anyone else? Am getting discouraged. My last Toyota went for 10 years with only one problem. The Solara has been in the shop more times in the last 8 months than the last car's lifespan.

Yeah I agree with you. I did not have as many issues with my 94 celica that I do with this car. Tommorow will the third time my car hits the dealer because of the tire pressure monitor. Also I am getting serious condensation in the passengers side headlight. Only five thousand miles in and I am sick of going to the dealer. Aside from some issues I still like this car, accleration lag and all.

Popped off? That sucks dude! I know that when a friend of mine test drove one that the roof fabric was bubbling at the A pillar, but did not see any problems with the pillar itself. ::knock on wood:: so far, mine are ok

A pillar

I tried reattaching all sorts of ways, including the hard punch. Just will not go back in place. Have not heard from the dealer yet regarding the replacement part.

GORGETA... I also had a fly die in my passanger tail light... In the blinker area on top of the silver. I drove around with it for a month until I had a chance to stop at the dealer... they removed it, and fixed the left drift problem. Also gave me an 05 corrolla LE as a loaner.

Same issue

Postby Sy » Thu Aug 26, 2004 10:13 pm

Yeah, i had that exact same problem happen to mine....

I don't really know what the deal is, but they ordered a new piece and installed it and i haven't had any more problems with it yet, *knock on wood*

Yeah this car has been a little frustrating so far. The first time i filled up gas, the piece that holds the gas door closed was loosened and refused to remain closed. A week after i had the car i had to take a nice 30 min drive during rush hour with the gas door open like a jacka$$ to the dealership to get the problem fixed. That has been ok so far...

Right now i have some interior vibration issues and the common left drift problem...i want to get them fixed but i'm afraid of the problems getting worse and they are not significant enough for me to take that risk.

This would be an amazing car if it wasn't plagued with these little problems. I hope all the tsb's cited is the end of it. I would hate to see Toyota lose their "superior build quality" reputation.

And here's another...........

The past few days I have been having a hard time opening my overhead compartment for sunglasses, and today I finally pried it open to find that the square rubber gasket came off, and I had glue strings dangling everywhere, and I had no clue where it was attached to. I don't know if I will even bother the dealer with this, because chances are they will just make it worse as they always do.
