Looking at cars

Postby Eviltwinpsu » Sun Aug 01, 2004 2:44 pm

Hello everyone.

I am in the market for a new car and right now im looking at the solara convertible. I previously had a mitsubishi eclipse but i ran that into a house.

Pretty much my choice is the solara convertible, a spyder, or the mazda6

anyone that owns a convertible mind tellilng me how satisfied they are with it?

Thanks

i gotta ask why the 6?

I totally understand your eclips and solara choice but the 6 how does it fit?

crashed an eclips so you would look at another you must have liked it but as any consumer would you also look at other similar cars eg the solara converatble. but hows the mazda 6 fit in?

if you said accord coup instead of the 6 id have understood i hope the 6 is your long shot.

dont own a convertable solara but im happy with the 04 sle very little to complain about.

let us know what you pick

I have a top of the line V6 SLE, and I am HIGHLY satisfied with mine. There are a couple of things that need to be fixed here and there, but the overall quality is top notch. The first 1000 break-in miles took for ever to pass, but once they did, I really found out what the engine is about. That engine sounds sooooooooooo sweet when you rev it all the way to the redline in every gear. I say test-drive them both, but in my opinion the Solara takes the cake, hands down. If you consider also reliability, there's no contest.

Y the mazda6? i like the look of it

Truthfully im looking for a car in the 20-35k range preferablly the 20k-30k range.... I would love to have a convertible hence the solara.

Front wheel drive or all wheel drive is a must because i drive in the snow alot or id be going for a ford mustang.

any other opinions would be apreciated

get the solara. you wont find a better made car for the money. fit and finish, quality, quietness, decent power, and toyota reliability. not to mention cutting edge style. forget mazda, after 2 years pieces start falling off. the spyder is really a chrysler underneath and handles like crap. oh and did i say the spyder is really a chrysler? lol remember...chrysler made the omni and the reliant k car!!! yikes

just picked up my solara sle convertible. I love it!! Little use getting use to being my first convertible and that stupid boot they give u is a waste of time but otherwise i like that it is a full size convertible. the spyder was a little to small for me

Have to agree with everything said here. For a full-size convertible, the Solara cannot be beat. It's sporty, handles well, plenty of power, etc.

As for the convertible, I'm having trouble with mine, and I know others are as well. I suspect a design flaw, but of course Toyota is mum on the subject. It's nothing major, but a full replacement of the convertible top, out of warranty, will run over $4k. Just so you're aware . . .

How about a used infiniti G35 sedan. They come in AWD, and they look sweet, it won't be your coupe..4 doors, but you will love it in the snow. But if your wanting no roofs, then you might also want to consider used audi convertibles, a used volvo. But if its new you want...you can't go wrong with solara. I used to like mitshu-spyders myself before...but i don't like their lack of refinements for the price they want.

6000 miles on my convertible and not problems yet.... LOVE THE CAR, cant be beat for a drop top, full size trunk(top up or down) and 4 seats. May not be as sporty in the handling dept as your other choices, but the TRD suspension upgrades (sway bar & springs) would fix that.

Totally satisfied! The car is awesome with the look and feel of a Lexus. :D
