I agree this forum is great. Many have helped with information and even personal email.

The rear end is "LARGE" but from the drivers seat I don’t see it and I prefer to drive it than look at it. The only ones that see the rear end are the ones behind me on the highway and it disappears from their sight in a short time. Zoooooooooooooom.

I think some people are just too sensitive. Nobody will like every style. Honestly, I don't care for the Gen2 style but I have seen some that I think look good and there are some very nice Gen2 owners. I really like the interior. Is it bad because I don't like it? Everyone's taste is different and I think that is a good thing. Otherwise, wouldn't everybody all want just 1 car in 1 color? I definitely DON'T slam Gen2 owners. It's what they like and that's good.

The Gen2 is the continuation of the vehicle line and therefore we're related :) . When a Gen1/1.5 owner tries to help based on their experience and gives the wrong advice because it was for the older generation, don't take it personal. They are still trying to help and may not realize the difference or have noticed the question was on a Gen2.

The only people you should have problems with are people that directly slam you for your car. I think that is just wrong. You can't slam someone for their choice without it becoming personal. There are many cars I wouldn't choose to own but if the owner likes the car as I do mine and takes pride in it, who am I to say their car is less than mine?

I enjoy having the Gen2 owners here and seeing the posts. I also hope to see more Gen2 owners at the local meets. Unfortunately, I can't help much with the Gen2 because it is VERY different from the Gen1 and I really don't know much about it. For general things though, I am more than happy to help. -JoeB

Here's my take on this. It really does seem segregated between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 people. I don't know any Gen2 people besides Michael's Arctic Frost because he posts in General Talk and I honestly NEVER look at the Gen2 section (except this time apparently)

I think we just need some Gen2 guys and gals to post more all over the boards and make themselves known!

Interesting thread! Well I am a chick and I love this forum and feel welcome. I am mostly a lurker but when I feel I have a question here I am not shy about posting it. People have been very kind to respond, in turn so being here is positive. I am a first time solara owner(not a new toyota owner) I saw the gen 2 last summer and knew I had to have this car because it looked so damn hot fat azz rear and all! Sorry Gen 1's and 1.5's I have never been fond of your style and definitely would not have bought a solara if they had not redesigned it. It just looks awfully long and very dated.

My comments just go to prove that people like what they like and have their own opinions. I have learned to respect people for the choices they make. It is obvious gen's 1 and 1.5 picked their cars because they loved them. I in turn picked my gen 2 because I loved it. Enough said.

I just got my 2nd Gen two weeks ago, but already join this forum about a month ago. It is my first Solara, but I am a long time Toyota owner. Anyway responding to the question “Gen 2 owners do you feel welcome here at solara guy?” I do feel welcome and comfortable. I think as more and more people own the 2nd Gen, the number of 2nd Gen discussion will also pick up as well.

This message is my first posting here at Solara Guy, so at the same time I like to introduce myself. Furthermore in the last one month reading postings at this forum, I already learn a lot valuable information as well. I personally think this is a great forum!!

Hey FLASH,

I agree with you on this one about Gen 2 peeps to post more all over the forum. Here's a reason why you don't see many Gen 2 peeps posting everywhere. When I first joined, I only knew to go to Gen 2 to post. If you go back to my beginning posts, you'll see what I mean. The majority of my posts were in Gen 2. I started wandering to other areas and found that I had feedbacks and inputs to offer. So...everytime I log on, I select the "View posts since last visit" option in the top right hand corner and that's how I'm able to check on other areas in the forum. Man, I thought the DIY sections was great and found some of the FUNNIEST sh*t to laugh at and it really made my day... :D .

Over time the differences will be less noticable between the two groups. In three to five years the thread will ask if Gen 3 owners feel welcome, and Gen2 owners will be the majority.

Gen 2 owners have not had as much time to become bored or dissatisfied with their ride. Their cars are still under warranty, so not many want to do more radical mods; plus the aftermarket has not yet had much time to address this generation.

As with any good forum, tolerance of each other opinions and tastes combined with civility and a helpful attitude will go a long ways.

Good humor makes life more pleasant. Now if those Gen 1 and 1.5 cars were just not so plain looking!!
