Cold air extension....review

I know this is an extremely rare part, but I'm gonna talk about it anyway. With this stop and go traffic and people driving like grandma over here, I was having issues with high intake temps. When I was n/a it wasn't much of a problem, but now that I'm sc'd, I started noticing things. Half of my drive from downtown back home is uphill. It would take no time for the intake temp to start rising. I was getting readings usually in the 140 to 150 range and pinging like b*tch at light throttle in 2nd and 3rd just before the transition from vacuum to boost. I couldn't add fuel since it was still in closed loop, so I always had to baby it up the hill or pull over and manually activate the water injection to cool the blower. It would take a good 5 miles a cruising about 45 to 50mph (thats not easy to do on this island lol) for the temp to start coming down back to normal. So yesterday I installed the cold air extension (thanks KILLA CAM) and immediately saw a difference, about 10 to 20 degrees cooler while cruising. Even after sitting for a few minutes, it never rose above 139*. The lowest I saw was about 106* at highway speeds. At night, it was even better, never going above 96*. It finally got to 100 after I had stopped for a few minutes. The car is much happier and not to mention the blower seems louder since it moves the filter closer to your ear :D So why am I telling you about a discontinued part? I wouldn't take much at all for an exhaust shop to bend a pipe for you. You could even make one yourself with a few silicone couplers, maybe a silicone joiner and some pipe. If any of you guys are stuck in a hot place like I am, this upgrade is worth every penny

U may also want to consider getting a roll of that gold DEI heat tape i used on trents car. The stuff is amazing. Wrap the entire intake tube. I'd be curious to see how much more the temps will drop with the wrap. Its expensive but IMO well well worth it. Great job on the car its really coming together.
