Need recommendations on new clutch

Postby freshdenamufcka » Thu Jul 07, 2011 12:39 am

my clutch burned out on me yesterday and im looking to replace it with something a little better than stock. only engine mod i have is the CAI. looking to spend around $400 max. was looking at the spec stage 1 or 2 w/ fidanza flywheel but the cost isnt really worth it since i'm not really upgraded. can anyone recommend some decent ebay kits? or give any input on brands such as centerforce, competition, or any others? thanks

well your budget is 400, for a relatively stock car i would honestly just stick with oem, it will run you a good amount and labor might be expensive too. So regardless dont make your budget 400 because you will end up spending more than that.
For an upgraded "name" brand clutch (ACT,SPEC, ETC....) its not cheap dude.

Thx for the input. I decided to go with the exedy stage 1 kit. Would this be too much for a just a intake? How would it compare to OEM? Also, does anyone know if exedy makes a lightweight flywheel for our cars? I searched and can't find any info on it, not even on their site. If so what makes/models would be compatible for a gen 1? The fidanza is a little too pricey and I've been reading too many mixed reviews about it.

Exedy Stage 1 is comparable to OEM. I think Fidanza is the only lightened flywheel for our cars. Honestly, if you only have an intake then just resurface your oem flywheel or buy a new one. Dont be cheap with this or any long term repairs. Do it right the first time.
