Wheels width

Wheels width

Postby S.Z.-Alpha » Fri Oct 22, 2010 10:17 pm

I found some wheels that are sooo deliciously bodacious and i'm wondering if changing the wheels to this size wheel will do some weird(or bad things)

Specs are:

Size: 16x8 (that's 2 inches more from the stock)
Offset: 38mm
Backspacing: unknown
Bolt Pattern: 5-114
Weight: estimated 18~19 lbs..

What will happen if i changed from the stock rims to these using the same existing tires i used on the stock which are 205/60/16s
Will there be sidewall issues because of the wider width? 205mm is already 8.1 inches(i think)

Post any advice please, thanks O_o

i thought offset and backspacing was the same thing...
my rims are 18x8 (i think) and my tires are 225/40/18 (225 being the width), i dont know enough to say whether your tires will work.
beware if lowered there is a good chance you'll have to shave or roll the rear fenders. i rolled mine myself being very careful and patient with a rubber mallet -this is not recommended but is possible.

+38 on an 8" width will require a fender roll when you're lowered, but since you're not, I can't knowingly say.

The extra weight shouldn't be a dealbreaker. BBS makes quality wheels, and they would withstand a beating, unlike most cheapo Taiwan/Philippine knockoff brands, that may be cheap and light(er), but at the expense of being made of inferior casts.

I'm thinking of Voxx wheels right now. Are they good? I particularly like the MG-3. It looks italian.

Scratch that...Voxx wheels suck. I'm back getting those BBS RXs this time however has the proper width on them XD. 16 x 7Js to be exact with 40 mm offset hoohah! less width means less weight right?

Partly stock. I got Tokico struts in the back. with all stock springs(AND 205/60/16 tires) Having the magnificence of the BBS RXs i'm gonna get, i'd lower them Xp. Wouldnt you?

That's what I'm asking lol because if you have stock suspension, even with the BBS it would not look good. Get the coilovers, don't do the same mistake as me, as buying lowering springs and struts but ends up wanting to be lower... lol. But here in Montreal the roads are so bad, you can't actually be slammed without causing damage do your frame. I'm still a happy man.

Also, I suggest you to get lowered BEFORE getting rims :)
