Removing TRD Kit

Removing TRD Kit

Postby Eye8Pussies » Sun Jul 11, 2010 10:23 am

A question to those who have taken off a dealership installed trd kit before- how was it installed and how did you take it off?

I didn't install the kit on my sister's solara, so I am not too sure what to do.

I'm hoping that they had just used double sided tape and that a heat gun would work.

Also, how is the rear grey piece over the exhaust installed? I'm afraid that somebody may have used epoxy at some point in time somewhere.

Thanks !

Front valences are held in by a few screws on the bottom and 3m tape, if you have the gen 1.5 kit, it should also be the same.
Side skirts have 2 or 3 screws on the front and rear while the entire length of the skirts are only held on by 3m tape.
Rear valences have 2 or 3 screws and 3m tape holding it on.
Center rear valence is held on by 3m tape and 2 plastic pop-in tabs underneath the bumper, no screws.

You should be good removing the kit with a philips head/flat head screwdriver and a heat gun.

^Actually, aside from the two pop-in tabs, there should be 2 screws on the lateral ends of the center valence (at least with the Molly Designs one)

hey, thanks for the pointers guys!

When I have some time, I'm going to take a look and see if it's worth the effort to take off the car since all the money from the sale goes to my sister anyway lol

Your sister told me she would hook me up with the kit... :bday:

But yeah, just use heat and take your time- should come off pretty easily!
