Hey guys, I'm new to the forum, though I would introduce myself and my solara. Not the best pics try to get some HQ ones soon.

It's a 99 Solara supercharged running 4psi.
Automatic
TRD Exhaust Muffler
TRD Intake
And I don't really know what else.

I purchased it from the owner of a Toyota dealership, it was his personal car for years, said he was selling it cause his son was turning 16 and he wanted him to drive something a little less "crazy" for his first car.

Basically the dealership owner told me that any upgrade that TRD or Toyota made for it had been done to the car, and it was lowered (no specifics as to how much)

It has worked great for a year but now I have the dreaded P0330 Knock Sensor Bank 2 code.

So looking to resolve this issue the BEST way possible, not just but jimmy rigging it to work. (I read about rewing the sensors but that cares me a little if my engine does really have knock)

So should I start by replacing the sensor itself, so should I go some fuel mods first. I do know the stock injectors are still in the car. So would getting Supra injectors help. I was thinking of purchasing injectors and some sort of fuel management system anyway at some point so would this be a good place to start? And if so what system do you guys recommend?

Also keep reading about Jim's fuel mod but did a search and can't really figure out what it is and what exactly I need to buy if anything?

Thanks guys for your time and I look forward to not only looking for help from the community but contributing as well.

Where are you located?

You can rewire the sensor at the ECU, relocate the sensor, or replace the sensor.

It is HIGHLY recommended that you get a 190LPH fuel pump, and Jim's fuel mod. IF your going to stay at 4PSI, your stock injectors are fine. :)

The Gen 4 Camry/Gen 1 Solara, the rear bank runs lean because the fuel system is a crappy setup. The Fuel Mod evens the pressure out between the 2 rails to not run lean.

I am located in Nova Scotia, Canada, so I will be looking to order most of the stuff from the states and have it shipped here. although I am heading down to Laconia bike Week in June. Any specific brand for the fuel pump recommmended?

Also I would def think about going to 5.5 psi If I knew for sure my Canadaian 91 Octane fuel was good enough. But I don't want to stir that debate up again.

Also any stores/vendors the forum usually deals with known for great service and prices. Would like to support someone that deserves my money I guess.

When you say rewire the sensor at he ECU do you mean to just rewire the bank 1 lead to the bank 2 sensor and vice versa?

As in Laconia, NH? I love that area. My Aunt and Uncle used to own a house on Little Barndoor Island on Lake Winni. Still pissed years later that they sold it. :( I used to LOVE visiting.

Let me know if you need help getting OEM parts. I am just about to start work in the Parts Dept of my dealer. Been goign there for years, and know everyone. For the fuel pump, most here just go with a Walbro.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 0228411794 That is the seller I have bought from a few times. I have a DIY on this forum for how to install it (modification is needed).

5.5 Oct you should be using 93 Octane. Sunoco there should have 94 Octane. You "may" be saf using 91, but I wouldn't recommend it.

My friend Gabe (TRD4Life) and I both make and sell parts, and can help with whatever you need.

As for rewiring at the ECU, that is exactly what I mean. I actually did that myself when I blew mine. Then I blew the other, many times over......don't ask. I can damn near change a knock sensor blindfolded by now. I actually now hve 1 knock sensor relocated to the front outside head, and rewired at the ECU to read as both sensors.

With the fuel mod and some good gas, you should be able to stay away from knock at 4psi. The walbro pump is a cheap upgrade, so it wouldn't hurt to do as well. The supra injectors would be overkill unless you up the boost and get a good tune.

So basically most everyone is saying to just rewire the knock sensors first. I will order the fuel pump anyway. Also, maybe a new fuel filter? But I guess there is no need for injectors as there is no Sunoco in the province and no more than 91 octane anywhere. So unless I want to start mixing in race fuel, (which I am not) then it's staying at 4 psi for now.

But what is Jim's fuel mod is there a thread as to what it is, and what I need to purchase to do this mod that would be great. Maybe I am a search noob but every time I search I just find mentions of it and not what it is.

As far as a computer to tune, the simple thing to do is grab yourself a used apexi SAFC2, works well for our cars and has a knock monitor built into the it which comes in handy. This will give you the ability to fine tune your a/f ratio throughout the rpm range. I sell the used apexi safc2's for $185 shipped. Average ebay selling price is around $220.

Fuel pump is suggested, grab that off ebay.

As far as the knock sensors are concerned, this is the safest, simplest, most cost effective way to go in my opinion. Although i have done relocated knock sensor setups before only because i didn't feel like taking the lower intake manifold off. :)

You should be ok going to 4.5 psi with your Canadian 91 octane if you really wanted to, as long as you get a dyno tune and dial in the SAFC. Anything over 4.5psi , you would need 93 octane.

if you have questions or would like to get some stuff ordered, feel free to email me back here or at gabe_potter@hotmail.com.

Thanks
