big brake. will this fit?

hey SG. got a quick question for you guys. i recently found a front brembo breke calipers that came from a mitsubishi evo 8 up for sale. so i was wondering if anyone know if it will fit the solara?

You'll probably have to machine custom mounts to be able to use the OEM mounting points.

In other words, no, you probably can't expect the calipers to fit the car AS IS.

Agreed. There is always a chance they will fit, but you will most likely need larger rotors and a custom brake bracket.

Since the Solara is 5x114.3, you could probably use those calipers in conjunction with Evo rotors, which are 13" and the same bolt pattern. People retrofit these brakes onto 240s all of the time by using a custom bracket.

You will also have to consider if the rear caliper has a built in e-brake setup or not- if not, you will have to rig something up to make the e-brake work.

Is the Gen2 5 x 114.3 by any chance...meaning Gen1-1.5 upgrades could work for us too?

I think the gen 2 is 5x114.3, yes. Don't people put gen 2 wheels on the gen 1?

Milt had a Stoptech kit on Posh's solara (gen 2), so yes- they would fit.

ic. how about a supra calipers? man, i might just go es300 calipers w/ trd4lyf bracket and 13" supra rotor.

I found 2 more twin piston calipers at the yard, will be back there later this afternoon to pick them off.

If I were swapping to another oem caliper that is so common like the ES, I would just buy reman ones from Autozone or something IMO. I did the Q45 brake upgrade on my 240 and got the 2 piston calipers from autozone for something like $120 after core. That way you know it has been rebuilt and you don't have to go through the trouble yourself... just my two cents.

That's true but at $120 for just one.
You can buy 2 from me and rebuild them yourself, and learn in the process of how to rebuild some calipers.
From me you can buy 2 twin piston calipers that are either Gen 3 or ES300 for about $60.
Price may go up since they are chargin' me differently..... :-?

Supra rotor with the OG Ericsol bracket will not work. I had tried it about 3-4 years ago on Posh's gen2....

Then no similar upgrade works on Gen2? Is it something to do with the hub or disc?

I have already tried to my car in earlier but, it has not matched with my car, as the calipers pad are occupying more area and taking more time to operate. so don't go for that.
