High Mileage 2000 Solara V6 A/T SLE - Looking for advice

Hi there,

I just joined both admin wise, and Solara ownership :)

I purchased a 2000 Solara SLE V6 A/T and its got a lot of Kilometers on it. But as these things go, the price was right, and it drove and sounded so nice (aside from an exhaust leak, now replaced). It's sitting at about 315K KM or about 189K Miles on it. What I am looking for is a bit of input on just what I should be doing to this thing right off the bat. I am not used to Toyota's at all, except for their reputation. Seeing as aside from small small amount of body work, the body was fine; I am relying on the rep of the Motor to get a bunch more use out of it. As well, what better platform to get into working on the engine, etc.

Because of our safety regs, and that annoying exhaust note, I've already had to replace the Ypipe to cat piece, (couldn't find an aftermarket performance one at all) New Windshield, and new front brakes... etc.

I am thinking of the Injen Short Ram intake ( No CAI available, i've read the threads tho but that fabrication firm email bounces), I've got to go through and give it a thorough tune up (plugs, wires, etc)... But after that, I am really not sure what I should be doing first.

Is there a sticky or something to consult regarding top 5 things to do performance wise? Or is it far more subjective then that?

Last thing, i can grab the last set of Projector lamps (kit) for my Solara from a somewhat local firm, but was also thinking HID kit And new lens covers. But then I have to start cutting wires to kill the DRL and might have issues with my Solara's 'Smart Head Lamps' burning out the ballasts over the short run.

I hope this is the appropriate heading to drop this under. Thanks in advance for the help. If I've violated ettiquite; grab that mackeral and give me a whack. I did not intend to.

Thanks all.

Happy 'New' Used Solara owner

Welcome to SG.

You don't have to cut any wire to disable the DRL. Just unplug the grey plug under the hoood.
