Camber kit installation

Postby hari-bhari » Wed May 21, 2008 11:53 am

i just went in for a rotation and my front tires were completely chewed up (belts were showing) because of negative camber, and i had to get a new set. i had the car lowered last july on tokico/eibach and aligned. before that i was on tokico/tein for about 2 years and never had any camber issues. so i went to get an alignment done and they said they couldnt do it without a camber kit and wanted $280. im going to go somewhere else for a second opinion, but in case i do need a camber kit i have a few questions.

1) where is a good place to buy? i see eibach ones for around $25 or so, but i think that's only for 2 wheels.
2) do i need 2 wheels or all 4?
3) how hard is it to install a camber kit, and where can i find instructions? 4) if i get it installed at the shop, how much can i expect to pay?
5) how close to zero do i need to get to be safe?

i know many people lower their cars safely without a camber kit, but i have also read of some people needing them if the bolts are worn out or something. any help is appreciated

Dang man.
I'm in the same boat, i need some new camber bolts too.
Eibach camber kits are only for 2 wheels.
It shouldn't be hard to install them i think.

i got mine from ebay.

I thinki t was liek 28 for a set of 4.

If you can remove bolts, and reinstall them, you can do it.

But then u need to get an alignment done, so that a computer can get it straight thru sensors and stuff.

As for the specs- they have a standard that has a range of where ur camber should be at.

went to the shop today, was quoted about 25 bucks per pair for some adjustable camber bolts which seemed fair, and about 20 for installation (I know its just a couple of bolts but I dont have the tools or the time). The camber bolts just looked like long bolts with a nut at the end, not sure how it would be different than what we already have. He said there were several different types, but these were the most simple and still would get the job done. But seeing as how my camber is at -1.3 and -1.5, he said I don't even the adjustable bolts really, but I am inclined to do it just to play it safe. I cant afford tearing up two of my tires again.

The bolts have cams on the end. As you turn it, the shock would move in or out.

To fix even more camber would be from the camber plates on top of COILovers.
