Intake Question

Postby BChad200 » Sat May 17, 2008 10:36 am

Hey guys,
when i pulled the vacuum hose that goes from my intake to my valve cover breather it looks like it has a tiny amount of oil on it. i took it apart and the pipe looks clean inside still as does the throttle body. is it possible the intake is drawing oil/oil vapor into my engine? what else could be the cause of the oil? thanks

Aren't we talking about the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve system? Typically the PCV valve and tube gets oily on the manifold side, but there shouldn't be too much oil up the piping.

Either way, I think my 2AZ-FE needs the PCV valve replaced at 60k, but cost is relatively cheap for the Toyota one, and its easy to replace.

PS I hope I'm not rambling about the incorrect topic

Be worried if your filter or MAF gets covered in oil.

A tiny amount of oil isn't cause for worry.
