ummm....you don't run the actual y-pipe 3" or anything that big....it should go into a collector and then to 3" piping...

usually, the piping itself should be about the same size as the headers. otherwise, say, if you use 3" piping on each downside of the y-pipe, you'll need a huge collector- like a 5" collector or something to prevent turbulence...

one of the biggest weaknesses of the stock y-pipe is the fact that there's a crimp in it for some reason, and the piping is flat in spots as well.

also, since you're paying good money for a y-pipe, make sure that they make the runners as even lengths as possible. The lazy way is to make them uneven, and it's easier/cheaper, but the performance gain is not the same.

so i should just keep the same diameter piping that the oem y-pipe is but minus the crappy design ......jpp is way to much $ for me...when i have a shop here in town that will make whatever i want for a fraction of the cost!

M_ABILONES, PM me if you need more info. Lets keep this on topic for Randy.

Im not sure of the diameter pipe JP uses on their y-pipe randy, I could try to measure for you if I get a chance. Are you planning to do a 3" catback as well?
