JIC Billet Vs. Greddy EVO-I vs. Apex-i World Sport
Well I finally decided to change the exhaust system on my car again. I’ve owned and used all 3 of these exhaust and since there has been allot of questions on which exhaust to go with I thought I would give a little review on each from MY experience. Remember these were tested based on my car which has the I-4 2.4L. 2AZ-FE motor with stock air box.
First I had the JIC Bullet SUS exhaust cat-back system. This system was on my car for about 2 months. This system was quite responsive at lower RPMs and torque. It feels as if the car has more power in the low end. However with this system I got allot of back pressure which in the high end wasn’t so responsive. When I would travel at 60+mph freeway and I would let off the gas the instantly feel my car would pull back due to the back pressure. I guess it can be a good thing and bad thing depending on how you want your set-up. The noise level of this exhaust to me wasn’t to appealing. It was quite loud in the cabin of the car. Esp. if you are traveling on long trips each day it can get quite annoying. I used the silencer but it didn’t do much good to calm the noise level down. Overall this is a great exhaust to boost the low end torque up. Also if you like your car to have some sound to it this exhaust is for you. The attraction of this exhaust for me was how the canister was designed. But looks don’t always mean better.
Second in line is the Greddy EVO-I cat-back system. I used this system for about 1.5 years. This is a great system as far as the performance. I did lose some low end torque with this exhaust however the high end RPMs this system was great and quick to respond. I didn’t get as much back pressure like I did with the JIC. With that said it allowed the exhaust system to flow at better pace. The noise level of this exhaust is quite good. Gives it a nice low tone. The Cabin noise with this exhaust was minimal but I wouldn’t say you can’t hear it. Overall this system was great and serves its purpose. I guess you can say this is the “Bang for the buck”.
Third in line is the Apex-I World Sport cat-back system. This is the newest system I have installed. I had this installed just earlier this week. I did some test runs and this IMO has been the best exhaust system I’ve had. The low end torque response on this system was great. I feel as if I got more power from this than the Greddy, But not quite as much as the JIC. Back pressure was very minimal. I did a test run for high end power and I didn’t get a good as a response as the Greddy gave but not to the effect that it would put me back on the Greddy system. The main attraction I had on this exhaust was due to the noise level it produced. Opps. I mean what noise level. This system has got to be the most stock sounding system I’ve heard with some performance added to it. If you want performance without having to sacrificing the comfort this would be a great system to use. Don’t get me wrong you do get a louder deep tone than stock. But just not enough that everyone can hear you coming down the street. This system is also quieter than the TRD muffler. Although I never owned the TRD muffler I’ve sat in plenty of Solara’s that has it.
I hope this kind of give those trying to decide on what exhaust you want a little more insight and an ideal on what system to choose. But all in all I love the Greddy EVO and Apex-I WS systems the most. The JIC is just too loud for my taste but does give allot more low end performance then the other 2.
Hope this helps.
If you have any questions please feel free to let me know.
Thanks
