I was wondering what you guys think about the Apexi S-AFC. Also what does it do for the Solara, possitives and negatives?

this has been answered before, but the s-afc controls the mixture of air/to/fuel ratios and stuff. once again flip is knows helluva lot bout it :)

With a supercharger and a dynotune, the S-AFC can give you an additional 12-15 wheel hp. Different set-ups might yield slightly different results, but this is about the normal range.

With the S-AFC hooked up to the s/c , is there a gas mileage penalty?

If you were running lean, then yes your gas mileage will go down but u'll save your engine. If you were running rich, it'll help MPG. Overall it won't affect it much

From the factory your engine and ECU are tuned for the stock parts. After modifying your car with something as simple as an intake, your cars performance will change. A/F ratios will not be the same along with many other things. The S-AFC will help to correct for these changes that you have made. If you run lean your engine will detonate and cause huge problems and if you run too rich you are wasting fuel and causing problems also. There are no negatives except for the high cost of dynotuning and the S-AFC

Will it do anything for a stock V6 or is it a waste of money?

Your on board cpu has a window that the fuel/air mixture is controlled by, when you ad mods the cpu can not open the window any more. When you add an S-AFC you can adjust all these readings 500 RRM's at a time therefore letting you get the perfect mixture. Just think of the s-afc as a piggy back for the stock cpu that helps the stock unit control aftermarket mods.

Costs

Postby RedSolaraGuy » Sat Jan 04, 2003 6:19 pm

I was wondering if anyone who has the S-AFC can tell me how much it costs to install and to dynotune. The group buy for the S-AFC is tempting, but I've heard it costs an incredible amount to install and tune it. Thanks a lot for any information!
