Checking interest in carbon fiber products

I noticed nobody posted pics of the interior pieces. I'll post some tonight if I have time. I have some good closeups of the back of them and stuff.

Good Luck

How did I miss this thread??????? :-? It seems somehow I miss some of the knew threads.

Carbonall, maybe you can help me? I had a very bad, expensive experience with a carbon fiber hood and I'd like to ensure it really wouldn't happen again before considering it. I had a Fiber Images CF hood and it was difficult to shut. Ask other members here who saw mine in person, they were shocked when they saw I had to SLAM my hood to get it to close. I could be wrong but it looked like the Fiber Images hood was all cf too but I really don't know. It had a metal hook where it latched and seemed very strong. I adjusted the latch mechanism up as high as I could, even using a dremel to elongate a hole to slide it up just a little further with no help. Because I had to slam it to get it shut, hood pins would have been difficult and because the hood structure seemed so strong, I skipped the hood pins.

As you probably guessed already, my hood snapped on me going about 70-80mph on a small road. Smashed the windshield, dented the roof on both sides and did minor damage on the fenders where the hinge is. The metal loop that latches was still in tact, it did not brake off. In addition to the metal loop, on the metal hood, there is another metal piece that works as a safety I guess. On the Fiber Images hood, it was either cf or fiberglass. The hood catch ripped through that like a hot knife through butter.

Can you explain how this could be prevented without using hood pins? I would really like a vented cf hood if I knew it wouldn't pop. By the way, my car WILL see speeds in excess of 100mph often. 8) I also add a vote for the engine cover. I'm still thinking about other pieces but I like your explanation of the workmanship and I have money. -JoeB

Just to make it clear that I never knocked krawzyazn products. He changed his design to a molded trunk which I think awesome for both of us. Now you will have a selection and again the consumer can choose which one they want. As far as pictures looking like the carbon is streched. Well carbon fiber is a fabric, it streches over contours to create a solid piece. That is why it is a fabric and weaved. I garuntee the trunks will have a flawless weave and our Gel Coat are specially formulated from Valspar for us and are 10 time more UV resistant then ViS Hoods. Valsar by the way owns house of colors too so they know what they are doing :). As a competitor krawzyazn still has the right to ask questions and i will try and answer them in a civil matter like everyone elses. I agree that trunk on scion is bad as hell and looks like good work. We are very proud of our products just like he is. I know a picture of a eclipse cargo cover caught the sun just right in the picture and made the illusion of a yellow surface. We have over 4,000 carbon parts in circulation right now and NOT ONE returned for UV Failure.

as far as price for the interior pieces, they will be set when they are done. We don't know what we have into them until we have a finished piece, but I will keep you updated

If your making interior pieces, I hope the rear panals will also be fabricated b/c for those of us that have the tan interior, its gonna look funky rocking c/f door panals and everything else is tan.

Yeah, just wanted to add that if we get closer to something on the center console piece I'd be down for that, if it isn't too expensive. I'll be pulling the stock plastick-y piece of junk soon to put in a new HU anyway, I may as well replace the whole piece.

I don't mind the wood, but that flat matte plastic isn't doing it for me
