at the top of the strut where the shaft first goes down in diameter... rubber = failure because it can get torn up.. im thinking that a rubber bushing plus a large washer may help solve that problem..

not sure just yet

salinas mark care to chime in with more info?
You sure bout a large washer ?? LOL....I'll show you dis Saturday. I've already made the parts for the struts but I need to install them and have them road tested for a week. so I can make more improvements or do something different all together.

Well, here it is, I charge an hourly rate of 40.00 usd with a minimum of 80.00 usd. So if the job only takes me an hour it is still 80.00 usd. just for labor. Parts are a different story.

And no the struts are not defective, I have seen many Solara/Camrys with these struts and they all seem to make the clunk noise. Go back and read old threads about the struts and it is the same deal.

Also I believe you guys all got them from Mark.

Correct me if Im wrong, but doesn't the TRD edition solara come with these bilstein struts already installed??? If so do those struts make the noise also?? Is this only a tein/trd combo like I have that has the problem? I would almost rather have my stock worn out struts back on, this noise makes my car sound like a piece of junk like my wheel is about to fall off. Where has mark been this whole time? ^^And Milt why are you saying get your money back? I hope that was a joke. Another thing why if you knew they would make a clunking whatever noise b/c you have seen many solaras/camarys with this prob why didn't you say something when this post started, & let ppl know?

Everyone that bought the TRD struts are in the same boat as you and Mark (kwazyazn) had some unexpected things happened lately. No one knew the TRD struts would make the clunking sound untill after the installation. As Sp33d said also.....there is a solution comming.

Read the first page of this, Rene aka 1Mexdude talked about the noise, and I wrote, "TRD struts do that FYI." (Referring to the noise).

Next time if you like, consult with me before you buy something.

I installed my struts today w/ new mounts, no noise/clunk. I used to get a clunking noise with my old suspension. The reason everyone is getting the clunking noise is because they are using old strut mounts. Makes sense to anyone??

but if u needed new strut mounts, wouldnt it usually apply to all struts, not just the specific front passenger that everyone is having a problem with?
