*Teaser* BIG Brake Kit for Camry/Solara

Postby SpeedySolara » Sun Jan 24, 2010 8:13 pm

This big brake kit is coming to its final stages of production so as a "feeler" I'm making a preliminary list of who would be interested in this kit or bracket. Please specify which one you'd want. I'll start...

1. SpeedySolara - Complete kit

Right now my guy is still working on sourcing parts for this kit so while its currently complete, he doesn't want to set any fixed numbers until he calculates costs & expenses. I'm actually making a feeler list now so that we can possibly make a group buy and lower our expenses so if you're interested in this 4 piston brake kit, put your name down and specify if you want only brackets or a complete kit. I'll let everyone know once he gives a price but from what it seems, this kit is going to be very affordable/inexpensive for what the kit is truly worth and for whats going to be offered. You'll see...

FWIW, I remember discussing with other 240 owners a few years ago about how Z brakes were overkill for stock setups and even SR'd setups. I've had these on my old car and I can testify to their stopping power in stock form.

Not sure about wheel fitment on the Solara but when you upgraded to Z brakes on the 240SX, EVERYTHING had to go; needed new wheels, rotors, pads, the works. Just to get it to fit (not necessarily to work). In the end you spend a little more than originally planned but the performance gain was unbelievable.
It wasn't like you weren't going to spend on said parts anyway but instead of spending it over a period of time you had to drop bank on them then and there, similar to a BBK anyway.

you're definitely right on the braking power of these calipers being amazing and they stick like glue. Like with every big mod, some additional tweaking, tuning, or upgrading parts is required. In this case you'd need at least 17" rims to make these babies fit. I'll test fit these on the TRD Revos since a lot of you have these rims and may be interested in this BBK.

PS If anyone is interested in this BBK, add yourself to the list above and specify whether you want only the brackets or the complete kit.

That's dissapointing my Camry has 15" rims, and I just got new sporty ones so I won't be upgrading them for awhile...

For the time being I have my SLE which runs fine so I'll save up for the 3mz/1mz hybrid. (I'll PM u about it). Too bad I cant use the BBK since I just installed it on the 5 speed. Its a pretty powerful brake setup...I thought I was going to do some endos on the highway lol. As soon as the snow clears a bit I'll see if I can get some more pics and maybe some clips too.
