Are those LARGER as well? I read somewhere that using ES 400 caliper from an earlier model (92?) is the way to go...it uses a larger pad.

The ES300 or the higher trimmed Gen3 Camry V6s which had the twin pistons calipers are bigger then the Gen4 Camrys There is a very significant pad size difference between the two. I'm swapped my Gen4 calipers to the Gen3s. Just have to remember to buy the right ones when you change them lol.

no problem
I would love to see a 4 or maybe 6 piston caliper used for this application, it would be more cost effective than the big brake kits available on the market.
Geeks get it done, while Nerds whimper and call for mommie.

Braking power is proportional to THE SWEPT SURFACE AREA! It doesn't matter what size ROTOR you're using, if the caliper (pad area) remains the same. .

I was wrong. The swept area does increase in this application.

FOUND THIS:

"Swept area of a brake is an important measure of it's effectiveness. The swept area of the disc is the total area contacted by all the brake pads in one revolution of the disc. "

By moving the pad farther out (on a larger rotor), you are increasing the AREA it sweeps over per revolution. I was only looking at the *static * pad area itself. Having said that, I wouldn't go with the added rotor weight in this particular application. Anyway...I've been duly *educated*. Thanks to all who responded.

Eric Sol brake kit

Postby 1kdude » Sat Jun 13, 2009 4:59 pm

I'll start out by stating I have a Ph.D. in Engineering.

The Torque exerted on the spinning axel/rotor assembly= Radius X Force. This is what stops the brake rotor from spinning and stops the car, turning the energy into heat. The radius is the distance from the axel to the center of the brake pad where the Force is applied. This kit leaves the force the same (same single action caliper, pads, etc) and increases the radius with a different caliper mounting bracket that allows a larger rotor. Thats it, Torque goes up with the radius. Look up torque in any undergraduate physics text.

Some Big dollar kits also increase the force with 4 or more live piston calipers, higher coefficient of friction pads, new master cylinders, braided lines, better heat handling materials, etc.

i agree great price

as for eric sol vs stock

i tried with and without the kit..

9ft difference in stopping we measured just for fun.. that was a 40-0 in a local industrial area.. brakes felt much better and had better initial BITE for some reason.. same pads just swapped out to the 13" supra rotor
need wheels? www.memoryfab.com - ask for david

This Kit on ebay is FAKE it is not a wilwood kit...

here is what they told me:

Hi,

No, it is not. I copied this from the auction description:
"This big brake upgrade was manufactured by revolution Brake LLC and usually sells for around $1200.00"

Thanks.

Daryl.

Why do you say *fake*??
It's just a *repackaged* Wilwood kit..read this from their ad on E Bay:

CALIPERS, Wilwood forged Superlite four piston fixed mount. These calipers are extremely rugged and light to help reduce unsprung weight. The forging process allows for a very strong rigid design without the use of excess material, they are super light (4.5 lbs compared to stock caliper around 9 lbs each). For more information look on Wilwood's site, http://www.wilwood.com/Products/001-Calipers Don't be put off by their excessive use of "racing", it's all about liability. These calipers can be found in Wilwood street kits also, though they are equally at home on the track.
