my hid is working beautifully, i love driving at night, in term of performance, gives enough width and distance in wet weather and dry weather condition, i don't have to guess where the lane divider is in rainy nights, cus i can see them now.

maybe i can snap a few more picts at night again.

my corners are still OEM, i have no intention to black out at this moment.

i still have extra spare part to do another retro, infiniti fx35 bixenon projectors, i am thinking do another one for spare, or maybe anyone else interested, sell at $250 or $300 range, no bulbs, no ballast, but everything else.

Thanks for the infos man!

I start thinking about doing mine, but I would like to keep the chrome look...I want them to look OEM, not JDM or civic stuff... but I wanna keep my highbeam.. I was thinking about trying to find some aftermarket headlight and make them fit on the stock headlight.. I guess it would be pretty hard to find something similar that the gen 1 headlight transparent plastic would fit well or that I can cut to make both fit together.. sorry for my bad explanation..

somebody try to use another headlight to fit on the gen1 lara?

here is a some more pict of retro in progress incase people have no access to HIDplanet.com

1. bake headlight, preheat to 200 degree F
Image

2. i put a piece of garden brick on the grill to avoid headlight to metal contact
Image

3. baking headlight at 200 degree F for 15 minutes
Image

4. lense came off easily with a few pry, nothing melt =D>
Image

5. trying on a shroud that has high beam reflector bowl as well
Image

6. fitment ok at front, but back of headlight need some cut for the projector
Image

7. bixenon RS6 projector
Image

7.1. bixenon RS6 projector wall shot beam pattern at 25 ft.
Image

8. RX330 AFS projector
Image

8.1 RX300 AFS projector wall shot beam pattern at 25 ft

Image

9. Both projector is powered by toyota ballast, philips D2S bulb
Image

i chose the bixenon RS6 projector becaue personally i think it outperform the RX300 in term brightness.
headlight with projector mounted on original reflector bowl, no headlight lense put on yet

i copied JnC's mounting idea
i believe i can do roational adjustment and up/down with in the reflector/projector itself, but i can do left/right, up/down adjustment using the oem headlight screws.

when i powered it on, i saw a lot of glare on the wall, anyone have an idea how to contain the light within the projector, glare is due to light escape from projector, hitting the reflector.

Image
i accidently aquired a pair of LS430 projector, the width is twice as my sh!tty RS6
Image

anyway, resume my retro here
Image
too much glare on oem reflector housing, so i paint the whole thing to black

Image
here is my custom made shroud, $7.xx for twin pack at walmart, plus a $4.xx bezels cofee cup also from walmart.

this is the bottom view of the headlight, i drill a hole for future rotational adjustment, thanks JnC again.
