GEN 1 HEADLIGHTS !!!! black housing NEW AFTERMARKET OEM

Postby JoeB » Thu Sep 29, 2005 4:01 pm

:( I ordered mine as the first set after Larry ordered his and mine won't get here until Monday. I also have a pair of the black corners here. I never put them on because I didn't think they would look right without the headlights being black. I just kept them here hoping 1 day black headlights would be available or I would take mine apart and modify them. -JoeB

Flash, I don't think they are for every car. They would need to be coordinated with the style. I don't think they would look right on your car since you have all the chrome and very little black. On a black car, I think it is an easy call or on a silver that has a lot of dark accents. In the case of my car, I think it will look good with the Red + Black theme I have going. If anything, the current headlights kind of stand out and don't go right.

If you mean not worth it as far as quality and/or price, I won't even get into that. The value of something to each individual is determined by several factors including how much money you have to start with, how bad you really want it and how readily available the product is. Personally, I would have paid more.

Now I just need someone to make Black Tails! A while ago I found some advertised. I purchased them and waited for a month just to find out they never had them, they were fishing. If anyone sees them give a shout out. -JoeB

That would probably be the easiest. I'm not crazy about the altezzas but for those lights, there is chrome, black-chrome, carbon fiber and maybe more. It only makes sense they could easily make black as an option. -JoeB

Hey Joe, I think blacked out oem tails would look sweet on your ride! I'm not a big fan of the altezzas on a solara.

I would like to put this into prospective.

There is a lack of aftermarket parts for your car not because of the compression ratio, and not because no one wants to make them. It's not because of your body design, and it's not because people feel there is no market. It's because the market you do have tends to be cheap, and the people who want to buy parts are always willing to go the cheapest route, over the quality route. Many of you want to use ebay products, which is fine and good. I've bought alot of piping off ebay for custom IC piping and other designs. However, for things like headlights or tail lights where you want them to be properly sealed to avoid any kind of water from leaking in, you might want something a bit more quality. Same thing with parts like CAI's and what not. I've seen seperate CAI designs where one made a good 10whp, and the other made 0! The bottom line is, cheap parts beget cheap cars.

If something is outrageously priced, don't pay for it, it makes sense to argue them down... but if something is fairly priced for quality, don't argue with them about the price. Simply don't state your interest. You can't base your aftermarket parts sales on ebay prices... that's just the way it is. That's the reality of moding cars and I'm not trying ot flame anyone or get angry at them, but if you want to put cheap parts into your cars, don't get upset if you end up having issues with them later.

^ Ok so are you saying these are good quality and we shouldnt be arguing the price. Or are you saying they are bad quality and we should talk down the price? And just so you know people are always going to look for the cheapest route cause the more money you have the more mods you can buy! I personally buy parts from companies that have a good reputation for making good stuff or i base things off of experienced people who have a lot of good experiences with a product.

I'm saying that I don't know this particular product, but people who haven't touched them are saying "That's too much money!" They don't hvae the room to pass judgement until they use it.

I agree, I always buy my parts from companies that are respectable or at least that have reviews on the specefic part for my car from eomeone I know, not just a guess and a hope...

After all, buying the same part three times because it breaks is more expensive than buying a quality one once :D. I will however say that I agree that most people see cheap parts = more parts I can afford! But... I guess that's just part of being in a community where people cling to whatever they can get their hands on. It's not their fault there isn't much aftermarket for these cars...
