Do you mean that you can only get the bulb to turn on with you flick the column for the high beam?

on my HID the regular low beam is the bright bulb that is powered by the ballast and the high beam is this small h3 or h4 bulb which is useless. i didnt even bother to connect it because switching over from low beam to high beam just gets dimmer lol

did you wire it up correctly? or is this a "plug-'n-play" kit?? From the driver's side harness, the Red/Yellow should be H4(low beam), and the Red should be your High beam. The 2 Red/Black wires should be Ground.
