HID Ballast question
I'm sure this has happened at least once to anyone who's ever installed HID's, so I wanted to ask this question. (i already searched)
Last night I went to put my "plug-&-play" HID's in. The ballast grounded itself, and now the GROUND output wire from the headlight harness no longer gives ground. (WTF?!!) The harness still puts out 12v on the (+) side, but because I couldn't get GROUND (-), the ballast won't turn on.
Soooooo, I just said f*ck it. I grounded the Negative side of the Ballast, and the headlight harness shoots out the 12v, turning on my HID's.
Problem solved right? WRONG! Now, the bulb stays on, ALL THE TIME. I'm sure it's because the ballast is always grounded, but WTF is it getting 12v from???
I guess more specifically my question is: "What happens if you accidentally ground the ballast during HID installation?" and how do you remedy it?
