nitrous on a stock motor???

Ok so I've been searching for 2 hours now and cant find the answer im looking for. Ok so I'm getting a NOS setup for my car tomorrow and I wanted to know wats the biggest shot i can run wet or dry on a stock motor safely? If anybody has seen this answer in another plss point it out. thanks.

I4 or V6?i don't recall any gen 1s on the bottle, but IIRC someone said something along the lines of a 50 to 75 shot is about as high as you'd want to go

the shot depends on a couple factors, engine size, mods, tuning, wet/dry.

but, generally speaking, i'd say anything less than a 75 shot (wet) or a 50 shot (dry) won't blow up your engine




but don't quote me on that. if you need to ask, you should probably go back and do some more research before installing something that could blow up your engine (but that's just my opinion...it's YOUR engine after all)

Everything I've found points to 75 or 50, so long as the engine is in top shape before the install, the installer knows what they're doing, and you take every precautionary measure.

I would say avoid it on a stock motor... but only cause im paranoid about blowing another engine.

Ok so any nitrous at all can blow up the engine... if you don't know what you're doing.

I was able to do 75 Dry Shot with no issues..

I also ran 100shot wet for a short amount of time.. A fuel pump would be a good idea i got away wihtout it, but it bucked sometimes

Now i use 125 direct port but to do this you need a bigger fuel pump..


I have had nitrous for 4 years and I am still on the stock motor.


Anything over 75 shot run a race gas mix or retart timing

srry i forgot to say its a v6 automatic its got a stock intake wit k&n filter and the exhaust has been converted to dual with dual tips and no mufflers i was looking for answer around a 75shot i just wanna have a lil more go for weekend fun.

Ok so I finally bought a nitrous kit its a dry NOS kit I was thinking of starting with a 50shot then the next jet up i got is a 80shot do you guyz think these v6 engines will handle that stock?

How do I figure out wat plugs are colder than the stock recomended? I read that it's better to go with iridum plugs than platnium plugs when running nitrous is this true? I'm running a dry sytem with one Solenoid for nitrous I was told the best place to position my nozzle spray is before the mass air sensor so the spray will pass over it and produce more gas is this right?

imho, nitrous is a cheapshot, unless it's used for cooling purposes.

and in regards to cooling purposes....what does anyone think about purging straight into the engine bay for cooling purposes?

i'm pretty sure that NO2 does not spontaneously detonate (explode without a flame or spark), but am unsure. any clarification would be informative.

^^ correct, it needs fuel, n2o alone won't combust. As far as purging, what would you plan on cooling, the radiator or just the engine bay in general? I'm sure there would be a more cost effective and better way of doing it (vented hood, or a few washers where the hood mounts. DEI makes a kit that'll cool the intake...similar to an intercooler spray bar, but it's actually a "bulb" that sits in the intake pipe. co2 flows through it, cooling the air as it passes over. I'm not sure how effective it is since the only cry02 kits i've seen installed on anything were intercooler spray bars. I've also seen a test done on one, i can't remember who did it, but it was on the intercooler sprayer...there was actually a loss in power because some of the co2 made its way into the engine. co2 displaces oxygen, less oxygen in the engine...and you can figure out the rest. Dam, sorry i went all of subject lol

forgot to mention exhaust wrap or ceramic coating the headers etc to keep the heat in the exhaust
