It's been a long time since I've seen this discussed, but I'm pretty sure it cuts boost when shifting, and I know it was debated, but some thought it did not boost in 1st gear for the auto EBC. I'm sure one of the OG's will give you a better answer...

I don't think it would work, but I'm no turbo expert either. If you're manual, I would assume a typical boost controller would be more effective since we don't really need the EBC anyways.

Wouldn't a BOV take care of that for a turbo setup? I would assume you wouldn't need an EBC if you have a BOV.

Hi, if I'm right ....you ask: can i use (do i need) the EBC for a turbocharged setup.

Answer is ....NO!

The EBC only works with the S/C. It controls the valve of the S/C (blue circle):

(sorry about the mess... i will clean it up this year  )

But if you can use the signal to control a boost valve maybe you can use it.

So the risk, without EBC is, that you kill your gear-box...but with a turbo setup i think you have to change/replace it one day anyway.

Wow, that sucks! Absolutely no boost in 1st gear. I think Toyota was scared? Why not use something ALA Mazdaspeed3 where full boost will only be seen from 3rd gear on, but partial boost is available in 1st and 2nd?
