who's ordered wheels online

who's ordered wheels online

Postby 1gSE » Wed Dec 24, 2008 9:21 pm

i'm debating on ordering them online or going to one of the 2 :-? custom wheels shops in minot once i get back stateside. So anyone order them online and from who? I was lookin at wheelsnext, but i've heard all kinds of bad info about them..like taking 6 weeks to ship, so i go there strictly to look and find a style i like.

Good luck with the shipping costs!! Shipping wheels can get very expensive. I work at a DHL shipping hub and I see wheels/rims shipped all the effin time. Not only is it costly because of the weight, but also how they are packed. I see countless wheels/rims that are just thrown on the truck. No packaging or anything of the sort. So if you do end up buying some wheels online make sure that you know how they are packed. Ask as many questions as you can about it. If it costs more for extra packaging, get it.

When i worked at a wheel/tire shop, we'd get customers who ordered wheels (UPS handled the shipping) and they're we usually packed in a box just barely big enough to fit in it so i doesn't move. It would have some kind of cover for the face of the wheel and sometimes some kind of filler in the corners. I never seen any that were damaged due to shipping....but you never know. Thanks for the info

i've ordered thru wheelguyz, tire rack, discount tire and ebay.. it's been fairly easy- no dmg what so ever- but packaging could definetly have been better.

side note: craigslist. i've seen gramlights/bbs/ssr go for cheap with tires.

I ordered my wheels and tires from buywheelstoday.com. It was my first time ordering from them but I was extremely pleased with my purchase. I was able to find the wheels I wanted, Enkei SC05, which were out of stock everywhere else. They shipped fast and had great prices. Tirerack.com and discounttiredirect.com are good sites too. Most places offer free UPS ground shipping for wheels and tires combo so shipping cost shouldn't be an issue.

i wanted an 18in black/gunmetal with a polished lip or gold/bronze with a polished lip. I want to stay away from chrome and a 6 spoke wheel since that's whats on the car now. I really like the look of the TSW Caldwell, but i can't find any pix of it mounted on a car. I'm leaning towards the hyper black TSW Thruxton and gun metal Vairano.....but more towards the Thruxton cuz it has a bigger lip :D Gonna be lowered on either Teins or Eibachs and Tokico's. 18x8 40 offset, sound good?

Here are the thruxtons, used but cheap. Why buy from online stores when you have forums like zilvia and club lexus.
