What are these ground wire kits I see on ebay? what exactly do they do?

I did the big 3 and helped out big time. Could be in my head but i felt the car run smoother. Plus my lights stopped dimming everytime the base hit.

i'm not sure of the quality of those wires....they don't have any specs on the type of wire used, or the terminals, or anything. $9.99....you may be getting what you pay for.

http://www.solaraguy.org/viewtopic.php?t=33618&highlight=hyper+ground+wire here's an old post i started on the subject, which has a decent description of how it works, and various other links related to the subject.

i made my own, and it was relatively easy. the reason i'm suspicious of these ebay ones, is that the set costs less than JUST the copper wire i used (which i bought on clearance from http://www.knukonceptz.com for $0.69/foot).

i have some extra 4AWG wire left over and gold plated terminals. PM me if you're interested in having me make you a custom set, or if you want to buy some of my excess material.

i'll tell you right now, if you want me to make it, i crimp using a hammer, rather than soldering the terminal to the end of the wire, which make mine a bit more ghetto, but i havent had any problems with them coming undone yet (~3 months).

when i installed mine, i could feel a difference in the throttle response (slightly, so it may be in my head), also, the gas milage went up about 30 miles/tank (also subject to personal interpretation, as driving habits greatly effects the type of milage/tank). i also noticed it was a tad bit easier to do an auto-trans burnout with the wires installed...take my anecdotal claims for what they are, anecdotes, since i dont have any hard/consistant numbers to back up my claims.

in my opinion, it's a good mod, if you can avoid spending over $60 on them, and also get copper wiring or copper-plated wiring.

this is something I could be interested in. is there a tutorial on how to install them? or do they just bolt to the frame.

install is easy if you can work a wrench and/or screwdriver. basically, everything bolts up near electrical components, via bolts that are already there. i ran some from the stock ground points, also have one to the throttle body, engine valve cover, one near the injectors, and some others.

i kinda winged it when i was choosing and cutting my wire, so i dont remember exactly what lengths i used, or how many i made.

i bolted a good bit of them to a common screw (where my OEM air intake box used to be), since i didn't have a metal hub (like the one on the ebay listing). from that common screw i went to the negative terminal on the battery, and also had another wire coming from the neg terminal that went to the stock ground point on the chassis

sounds like a plan. Just to clarify, you have 3 wires connected to the neg terminal? The actual ground wire for the car, one from that common screw (or a hub) and then one running to a ground point on the frame/body of the car? Or does this hub deal replace the negative terminal? And on another thought, I found this. It looks like better quality. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RALLIART ... dZViewItem

Thanks for all your help

3 wires, yeah....well, if you count the stock one (which merges w/ the neg cable, so it's not really 'screwed' in, it's just there), as it should be...but the other two you got right, common hub --> neg, and also frame --> neg. those are linked up where you tighten the screw for the neg terminal.

the circular hub in the ebay listing is what i used my makeshift common screwhole for.

ebay wrote:-Special copper wire mesh use as central core
-Transparent head-resistance wire jacket to protect inner copper cores
-Special battery terminal adaptor is made from highest quality aluminum
-Aluminum made central plate to collect all wires from different ground terminals

sounds a little suspect still. google search the relative impedence values for aluminum vs gold and copper...i dont think it's as good a conductor. also, i'm unsure exactly what is meant by "special copper wire mesh" in the first point i quoted...as well, there aren't any specifications on wire gauge (which means i'd suspect 8AWG or smaller).

...from the common hub i daisy-chain it around the engine bay....i'll get around to taking some pics when it's less rainy outside (weird so-tex weather... :( ) pm me your email address so i can send em

I made my own groundin' kit.
I used 0 AWG wire for the negative terminal.
I got Rockford Fosgate post clamps on both postive and negative terminals.
I used the regular groundin' points but upp-ed the wire AWG.
Soon i think i'm goin' to up the 10 AWG wire i had to 4 AWG.
Positive post wires i used 4 AWG.
