Turn Signals Wont Work

Turn Signals Wont Work

Postby JRector » Tue Nov 06, 2007 7:47 am

on the gen 1 99 solara sle, where would i check to see why my turn signals wont work, i figured maybe there would be a fuse or something in the fuse box under the hood and found nothing, whenever i try and use my turn signals it just makes a loud screeching sound and the lights dont blink...on my dash or my tail lights.......makes me nervous driving around without turn signals (im not sticking my hands out the window either and doing it that way) lol

It may be the turn signal switch problem. (the one you lift up or down to give signal)
I heard a lot of corollas have those issues.

You really need to get a repair manual for the Solara/Camry....
If you look at the lower dash in the left area where there is a pull down holder open it up and a little tug and up should make it come out, and then look on the back of it, and you will see a label, and look at that and look at the board or fuses and check the one on the back on the coin holder [whateva you call it] and find the fuse for the turn signal.

had same problem.

its a fuse. or actually more a relay. pop out the section by the dead pedal. and youll see the "flasher relay" . change that. available at autozone or advance auto stores.
where many hate, few will love,
But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.

I had the same problem about a year ago. Do your hazards still work? I had an intermittent problem with the turn signals but my hazards would work. I took it to the Toyota dealership and they told me it was the switch in the steering column. It was about $250. They replaced it and it did the same thing. It turned out to be a "connection" down in the footwell area. It only cost me $40 bucks. So, check all the connections first.
