Major problem in Solaras

Major problem in Solaras

As I was discussing the idea of a supercharger with my parents, they found this from Toyota Motor Corp.
3.3 million Toyota engines built from 1996 to 2001 have a sludge buildup that can ruin the engine. This affects 1MZ-FE and 5SFE between July 96 and July 01. So for now, the warranty on the car is extended to cover eight years from the date of purchase with unlimited miles driven.
I wasn't sure if anyone had already heard of this, but with that sort of problem, I wouldn't think all the money for a supercharger would be a wise investment.

if you have sludging and have your service records, they will replace your engine or something... use the SEARCH and find the old post on it...
1GR-FE ftw!

When oil is not changed on a regular basis, oil will start "gelling" or thicken up and stick to the engine's crank pistons and etc. Contaminants in the oil cause a buildup and eventually causes problems in the long run. The only fix is a rebuild. That's why its best to change oil on a regular basis (every 3 to 4k miles is best) and keep record of receipts for each oil change.

that's the warranty on sludging. not the powertrain warranty. powertrain is still 5yr/60K.
and not, they don't replace the engine. they pull it completely apart and clean all the sludge out.

Its really not toyotas defect, its just ignorant poeple dont know that cars need both oil AND gas. What a crazy concept. Stick to an oil change every 3-4 months or 3-4k miles, whatever come first and you'll be fine :D
