My clutch is on its way out. I don't think the search function is working properly, it only came up with a couple hits for clutch. 99 V6, only performance mods are exhaust and intake. Just looking for something slightly better than stock. Don't want something that will give me a workout, make it hard to drive, or break the bank. Any recommendations are appreciated and also any links to good places to buy it. I emailed and called RJ@UPFD a couple days ago and he never got back to me so I'll look elsewhere. Thanks!

I went to Horsepower Freaks and got the spec 2+ with fidanza flwheel for $750 shipped (very good price). I will have the car back next week so I can tell you how it feels.

Spec and ACT are good brands. . . My friend's 700 hp Supra was using Spec Stage 2 6 Puck. . . and it held up really well and last pretty long

I've got the ACT 6 puck and it's great. Not so hard on daily driving. BTW...RJ doesn't work at UPFD anymore. RJ and his brother Matt (the owner) had an arguement and so RJ will be leaving...

Those clutches all look great but pricey for me. I'm looking at this clutch http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/price/T ... lly_Series It gets good reviews and for $170 which includes pilot and throwout bearing seems I can't go wrong. Anyone have any experience with South Bend clutches?

I can also get an Exedy clutch shipped for $180 http://www.racepages.com/performance/ba ... brandid=71 but I can't find any ratings on them or if this clutch is any upgrade from stock.

Oh and any idea approximately how much it costs to have a clutch replaced on a fwd car? The dealer told me $825 installed oem clutch and flywheel resurface.

I just had a local transmission shop do it for me. They guarantee their work and their damn good usually. Total cost = $350 for labor + $750 for my third party clutch and flywheel = $1100. Hope it is worth it!

Oh, and if you buy the fidanza flywheel with the replaceable friction plate, you will never need to resurface again. instead you just replace the plate.

I haven't heard much about the south bend, but I have been told many times that the exedy is junk. Remember, you get what you pay for. I would rather spend more money on the clutch and flywheel, knowing that it is quality, than pay for replacements and extra labor down the road.

p.s. sorry for the multiple posts, I just kept forgetting was I was going to say.

Well I found a local shop that comes recommended to me by my boss and they will install the clutch and resurface my flywheel for $410, not too bad I guess. So if I can get a new clutch in my car thats better than stock for $600 installed that seems like a good deal to me. I think I will go with the South Bend clutch as its recommended by others unless anyone here can tell me why I shouldn't. Thanks for the help!

Good Luck, let us know how it runs. BTW, what is the torque rating of the south bend clutch?

I'm not sure, but it is supposedly stronger than stock.

I had my flywheel resurfaced and I have a TRD clutch with it . . . resurfacing works pretty damn good for the cost. good luck bro.
