Going au naturale. Engine Hybrid Swapping Qs

I've been looking around to add some power to my Solara for a long time now and I've discovered that you CAN ACTUALLY swap a 1MZFE block to a 3MZFE block while retaining the 1MZFE head just like a lot of ppl do on Honda engines. I also saw a lot of ppl hybrid swapping on MR2s and Celicas doing this. I was gonna go for SCing but considering the rarity of the SC, not to mention if you actually get one it's used, the cost of rebuilding it is too much. 230+ HP gains isnt bad, considering a cost of a good block you could find.

I got questions though. I saw in a post in another forum that the guy who did this was using aftermarket knock sensors, is this necessary? And also, for the 3MZFE's exhaust headers, is there any aftermarket ones like the ones on the 1MZFEs OBXs, or do they have to be custom made. Is fuel the same? Are gains really 230+ HP? Is there any considerations to look out for?

Another thing that swayed me from SCing was well...it is just natural, no power adders, just like a McLaren's engine is like; just raw power without help. Dont get me wrong though, I still like the whirring of an SC.

The only headers 3mz specific are the JPP. Gabe did however say that the 1mz's obx and other brands do fit the 3mz with slight modification. You should send Gabe a pm if he doesn't chime in on this thread. I'm sure he's got all your options.
