hub centric rings

Postby sarki » Sun Apr 24, 2011 11:16 pm

Ok so after some research and a lot of phone call's, I found a couple of web sites that sell the correct hub centric rings i need to fit my new G35 wheels on my car. Now the question is do i go with the polycarbonate rings or the aluminum ones? Both the same price. Just in case you guys where wondering what the big deal is, Let me give you guys some info about hub sizes. The Solara has a hub size of 60.1 and the Infinity has a hub size of 66.1 so of course i will need a centric ring. Tire Rack doesn't carry this size and Gorilla doesn't have them either. So should i get the plastic ones or the aluminum rings. Any experience on this subject matter??

My aluminum rings worked very well. From discount tire. Also nice to know if they ever get stuck that the can take a little hammering to get them off. I'd think the plastic would be more brittle.

Agree on Discount Tire, I picked some up from them at the store, they had a buncha diff sizes, all the plastic type.
Canadian Tire used to have them in stock too, and they were the cheapest for a while. They had both types, and you can select your ID and OD.

Supposedly the "plastic" ones save weight. I never bothered to measure.

I went with the metal ones, for fear of high brake temps melting the plastics! But I have track pads and do track days. I don't think regular drivers make their rotors glow. I got my metal ones from Volk, the makers of my gram lights.

You can't go wrong either way. Get a set and be done with it. They're cheap enough that if you change your mind, you can get the other later.

Sark, I don't think you'll find many of those 6mm rings, I know, I've looked. You should be fine bolting them straight on, just make sure your lug nuts are torqued to spec, at least 80 lbs/ft, IIRC.

BTW, I run the polycarbonate rings on my Works on the Solara. Great rings, I'd pick them over the metal ones, personally.

I agree with Krispy. I never used hubcentric rings on the G35 wheels I used and I tracked at Willowsprings with them just fine. DD'd with them for at least a year with no problems either.

I found 2 sites that have the 6 millimeter rings. 1 of the sites sell the aluminum 1 and the second site sells the poly carbonite 1. They are both around 35 bucks. I'll post the link up later. I just don't know if 1 is better than the other since they cost the same. I think the hub rings are just good if you want peace of mind.

Here are the links to the sites i found. FYI if your going from Toyota to Nissan, Tire rack does not have these rings. Dont think discount tire has them either.

^^^ I know $35 is expensive for hub rings but it just gives you piece of mind. I think im going to skip the rings for now tho. Fuk it. If i have issues then i'll get them.

I'm all for rocking the rings, but damn...my 73mm to 60.1mm rings were like $9-10 for the set shipped.
