Okay so I'm doing this from my palm phone so forgive me for not searching first. I eed a quick answer to a couple questions. So I'm getting a 6000k 5w HID kit. Just a normal one, not bi-xenon... And I'm curious how will they work with the stock DRL setup our cars have? Will I lose DRL all together? Or will my headlights be on all the time? Or will the DRL feature still work as it does now with stock halogens? Also is 55w fine, or will I need 35w? Thank you for all ur responses. I would search but I'm at work on my palm lol.

Yes you will loose your DRL's
You need to unplug the thick grey plug under the hood by the firewall on the passenger side.

I also disconected my sensor on the dash to keep my headlights from coming on when it gets dark. Its not needed but I didnt like my lights turning on automaticly.

The reason you need to disable your DRL's to run HIDs is because of the low power caused by the DRL's.
Your HID bulbs will go out if you dont unplug your DRL's.

IMO I would run a 35 watt system.

how exactly did you set up the DRL's? And afe they dim in comparison to headlights on at night? I was thinking if there is a way to have DRL's work @ 35w and reg headlights at the full 55w. Anyway let me know how you set it up. I want a white crystal look. Will it cause any overheating or melting if I run 55w?

Just plugged the ballast into the harness, hooked the pos wire to battery and found a ground. No difference in output from drl's to having all the lights on...they're bright all the time

hmmmm I don't want DRL's to be same as normal. So I'll probably disconnect them. But now I was thinking, I know people have done the independent fog light mod, but think I could have my DRL's run as fogs?

^GM style. You probably could, but I wouldn't want to do the wiring if I was you. Do the Independent FL mod and call it a day.
Trust me, I'm a technician.

The 1.5's have DRL, but its different.
The DRL's dont run on the same bulb cuz there are two bulbs per headlamp.

Thats why I want an 03 so I can put a Gen 1 front end on it and be able to do dual projectors without having to do a bunch of rewiring.
