Sound deadeners?

Sound deadeners?

Postby nemoxfishy » Thu Apr 01, 2010 4:50 am

Hey guys,
I just installed my Megan DS catback and that thing is much louder than what I expected....
It does sound awesome tho! Idling has a deep tone and WOT is like sex.
But when I'm just cruising between 2 and 3k rpm, I can even feel the vibration through my steering wheel!

SOOOOOO.... I'm thinking now if I applied some sound deadeners, would it help at all?
What brand, type, and how much do I need? I've heard of the dynamat stuff which is supposed to be the best? but those things aren't cheap, is that my only option?
I only want my interior to be a bit quieter!!

You could try putting Dynamat or a product like it, maybe the spray on one under the muffler on the actual car. I don't know how much of a difference it will make as my OBX exhaust and headers are loud and I have my whole car dynamatted for the sound system.

My friends and I personally love Second Skin Audio: http://www.secondskinaudio.com/

There is a forum there with some guys that know thie stuff, and even the owner (Anthony) posts there. They can tell you which products and how much you'll need for your application. Yes, I'm a member there too.

I used Raammat when I did my audi overhaul and it made a giant difference. IMO its one of the top sound deadeners and its one of the best priced. I used 2.5 rolls of this stuff but I did everything from my door skins back to the rear bumper, including underneath the rear seat area. Check out http://www.raamaudio.com
