Flowmaster 60 on v6?

^ I didn't like the tone of the Magnaflow on my full JP setup. My Apexi WS muffler sounded much better, IMO.

Honestly. exhaust is all personal preference. There is really no right or wrong answer in this situation. If all you are doing is light modifications anyway, just pick the style that looks the best to you. Then, if you don't like the sound, you can always try a different muffler.

We can argue about piping diameters, brands, performance, and what is "ricer" or not all day, but in the end it doesn't really matter. All that matters is what YOU think. .2" of piping diameter is never going to make a noticeable difference on an otherwise stock NA V6 Solara. In fact, I would bet that you won't even notice much of a real difference at all between the stock catback and an aftermarket one- the "butt dyno" difference will probably just be in your head.

I think people on SG are too uptight about the few mods that do exist for the Solara. The difference between all of them really will be negligible.

Thanks for your input everyone!

Does anyone have a clip of that Megan catback system? I would like to hear how it sounds on the Solara..

Your right though CamryOnBronze, there seems to be alot of fuss over what is best when really it will not make any different. Not on a daily driver anyway..

I am really just aiming for sound. As I said, I had a flowmaster 60 series on a Prelude, and it was nice... A very smoooth, low/deep sound and wasnt overly loud whatsoever. So i pictured it sounding good on a Solara, smooth and deep... lol (take that however you want haha)

Again, I would like to hear the sound of the Megan catback, if anyone has a clip. I need to do some exhaust work anyway, mine is quite loud, especially when warming up... Maybe I will post a clip and get your input to see what might be wrong with it..

Anyway, thanks again

I've done a ton of work on my RX300 for exhaust (cut off, put on, repeat) see http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2215309/3

I'm using a 2.5 pipe up front with a dual to one side 2.25 after the resonator.

I sort of remember over on my CL forum, I think we had someone who did run a Megan exhaust, but I think I got it via a PM some time ago and not sure of who the user was or even if they still have the vehicle (because I throw out my PMs every year and a search in the forum revealed nothing). A lot of people were running the Rod Millen exhaust, which was a bit similar, and I'd have to say remembering that sound that it was quite acceptable (no crappy rasps, farts, just a smooth growl).

The only REAL effects a cat-back will have on an otherwise stock Solara are sound and visual appeal. You MIGHT gain 1-3whp or something, but you won't really feel a REAL gain IMO.

I don't think it is ricer at all to want to improve the look and sound of your exhaust system. To be honest, by using this standard, I would say 95% of SG members are ricers.

OP, you really can't go wrong with an exhaust setup on the 1mz. I have had all of the following setups, and though they all sounded different- they all sounded really nice as well:

GReddy Evo Catback
Custom Catback w/ GReddy SP2 muffler
GReddy Evo Catback+TRD Supercharger
Greddy Evo Catback+TRD Supercharger +Injen Intake
JP Catback(Magnaflow)+JP Headers/Y-Pipe+TRD S/C+Injen Intake
JP Catback(w/ Apexi Muffler)+JP Headers/Y-Pipe+TRD S/C+Injen Intake
Megan Catback (Never installed it, car was totaled)

It's hard to make a V6 sound bad, unless it's a GTP.
