HID Mounting Gen 1

HID Mounting Gen 1

Postby BLACK V6 » Thu Jul 16, 2009 2:15 pm

I have searched and searched but I just can't find what I'm looking for. I have a set of HIDs on the way and I wasn't sure where to mount the ballasts. I studied under my hood for a bit today and couldn't really come up with any good spots. And, if I am not mistaken, you cannot mount the ballast directly to metal, am I right? Any info or pics would be a great help. Or unless you have better search skills than me a link to another thread with the info would be fine too.

Exactly where I put mine. Perfect place, almost like it was already set up for it.

Thanks, that should be just fine.

Toy1mzfe- I read somewhere that you cannot mount the ballasts (only if they have conductive housings) to metal surfaces because of shorting or something. Maybe that was just with a certain brand idk.

Oh, I forgot, one more question. If I ever feel the need to get some bi-xenon HIDs would I have to get new ballasts/wiring or can I just buy the bi-xenon bulbs and use my regular single beam ballasts?
