So let me get this straight... this is a rear brake upgrade? Because I swapped twin piston calipers from a Lexus ES300 V6 with ABS onto my Gen 1 Solara. So bigger rotors and bigger (twin piston aswell?) calipers on the rear?

No, still single piston rears.

For you (since you have a '99), it uses the same caliper. The rotor is 3/4" bigger though, so the caliper gets pushed farther out for better heat displacement. As well as filling in the rim better, lol.

so a 99 solara has the same caliper?

Im lost... I figured that since the rotor is bigger, the caliper would have to be moved outward some more.... I was also wondering if the Highlander's rear rotors would fit, and maybe have a caliper relocation kit made.... just a thought.

Yes the first year of Solara 1999 had the larger calipers BUT did not have the larger rotor/backing plate. From my research its the backing plate and/or the caliper bracket that acutally moves the caliper out to accept the larger rotor.

Those looks like rear 1992 to 1995 ES300 calipers.

I think larger rear brakes might actually be beneficial for those with upgraded fronts. I'm noticing my camry is very front brake biased since i did the upgrade and I think a more aggressive rear setup could help redistribute braking force. Anyone else agree?

What's nice about this upgrade is that the larger rotors only weigh 1.5 pounds more than the stockers.

Adam, is the backing plate removable w/o pulling the hubs? I had thought some of the screws that hold it down are behind the hub.
