TRD radiator caps?

TRD radiator caps?

Postby alltrac92 » Fri Oct 03, 2008 9:09 pm

TRD website list two radiators caps

PTR04-00000-02 21.3 psi
PTR04-00000-01 18.5 psi

Which is the better one to use?
Does anybody know what the stock cap psi rating is?

I got the 18.5 psi TRD radiator cap last month. I had trouble deciding which one to get. The stock cap is 1.0 bar=14.5 psi so jumping to 18.5 psi seems reasonable to me. I was worried that the 21.3 psi might be too much pressure and cause some problems as the years go by.

You won't notice much of a measureable blip unless you also go with a TRD Thermostat. I actually went with a Tom's Radiator Cap.

Technically, what the radiator cap is supposed to do is allow the radiator to cool better by raising the valve opening pressure a bit more.
