Update on the gen 1.5 aftermarket grill

Well, after being in talks with Kaminari regarding the prototyping, it turns out that they will not be able to replicate the design that I was going for. The upper mounting tabs kinda blow the possibility. Im not done though...just gotta get creative on mounting solutions now. This set back may scrap the entire plan but as of right now, Im not giving up.

What may have to happen is to disregard the middle upper mount altogether. That would allow me to notch a flat spot on either side and have a plate mount on either side.

We'll see...

So what specifically was wrong with the mounting tabs? Location? Design?

Well, the mounting tabs themselves are the problems although Im not sure why. Im no expert with molding so I have to accept the answer they give me.

Im brainstorming on the design of the upper mounts but I may put the project on hold to try my next (in my opinion, more exciting) project.

i'm living up in MD this summer working full time... non of my friends from JMU are in the immediate area so i have a long summer ahead of me.. you inspired me xavier haha i think i might pick up an extra gen 1.5 grill, some more fiberglass and bondo, and go to work with my dremel to see what i come up with.. its gonna ba a LONG summer afterall

so now the question is.. how much is and where can i order a gen 1.5 grill?

I have one but I have it for the same reason as you. Hope to get around to making or messing one up, as well. Any updates on this? I really really want one of these....
