yeah thats the thing about diesels, they run rich as f*ck. I guess you could solve that with more boost 
I read an article on a Banks powered diesel prostock truck that produce no smoke and that thing was somewhere in the 7's i think. Hell even look at audi's rs10. It murdered the competition in LeMans series and had no remorse doing it lol. And it seemed to run just as clean as gasoline powered cars.
