How long have you had your TRD supercharger?

Postby nmatthis » Sat Nov 03, 2007 11:16 pm

I have my TRD supercharger installed on my 99 Solara SE V6 5-spd in December 2002 at 66,000 miles. Now I've got over 150,000 miles. 84,000 of those on the supercharger.

I've had no mechanical problems with the SC. Still seems to provide just as much power as when new. I'm just curious if I'm lucky or not. I remember reading some time ago that there is a kit to refurb the SC every 50,000 miles, but I've never done that. Has anyone else put this many miles on their SC, especially without the 50k mile refurb?

^^^

Hahaha funny...

it sounds like a rich guy problem...wanting always bigger house, car and boat ! :P

It's a good question, cuz, I'm sure if I would be boosted for that long I would attemp to dance with the devil and increase the boost !!

I try the new VW GTI of my friend...it has 207 hp and 200 tq and weight almost the samething as the Solara gen 2 but even so is a bit faster than mine. The average power is bigger with the turbo that push the hp to the max and keep it there from low RPM to high RPM like a SC. Since then I want a boosted car...but my wisdom is winning for now...I need to stay far of boosted cars...because boosted car is the devil !!!

I've had mines for 6 years and put about 120,000 miles on it. I just got it refurbed through PSE a couple of months ago. They said it was pretty dirty inside and was definitely due for service. It costs about $700, but it works great. There's no sound at idle.

What I really wanted to do was the intercooler mod that Greg did with his set up through PSE. If I were just getting in to the solara and modding it, then I would do it, but I'm getting ready for a SUV soon.

Who is PSE? Is it a local shop? I'm due for a timing belt and I'd like to have the SC refurbed then. What exactly did the refurb involve? Did they clean it out on the inside, replace some parts, change the oil? Thanks.

I got my Solara in March of 2001. I installed a supercharger in July of 2001.
I now have 86,000 miles on the car, but the car is rarely driven now. I mostly drive my Yaris.
I'm trying to preserve my Solara. I want to keep it nice for many years to come

Someone posted the link to PSE. I'm assuming you removed your SC and shipped it off to them and waited for it to be refurbished. What did you do in the meantime, install the stock intake? Did you do the SC uninstall/install yourself? How long did it take for PSE to refurbish the SC? Thanks.
