Question about blacked out headlights and HIDs.

Yeah they don't seem as bright as the OEM's, which was expected as I had already heard that in the past, but what I want to know is what have you guys done about it (those of you with the blacked out headlights). Did you guys have to upgrade to HIDs? and if so, what kind and what temp? I am not looking to blind anyone, but I want to be able to see!!! (yes I saw the stickie about $240 HIDs but I want to see what else is out there, besides I see all them different prices in there that I wouldn't know what do get).
