the extension is a non restrictive pipe, it is at an angel to ram cold air into to intake, this pipe was flow tested and thats why the cost is slighty high becasue if you look at the stuff i do to my car, its never second best, this was not designed by me, it was designed by a proffesional who has been building race cars for over 20 years i trust his design. he actually ahd three different prototypes and this one had the highest flow rate. So you can question on whether it will help or not, i definatly notice an increase in power at night when its cold. becasue the injen design is stupid it sucks all you motor heat, a whole lot of science went into that brilliant idea. Anyway i stand behind this, and i trust that it will benifit your application. the colder the air the more you can cram into your intake, equal better performance.

1. for the air bypass valve question, yes you can use an air bypass valve in fact i ordered one but have been working the week and havent been able to get it installed.. The air bypass valve cost about 40 bucks from aem, and can work on any application including forced induction, also the bypass valve would install about 6 inches down off your throttle body. And will look much like the pics youve seen with them on.

Sorry to undermine your post Danny, but this is a direct quote from the AEM website:
"The AEM Air bypass valve is for use only on AEM Cold Air induction systems, and is not for use on forced induction vehicles."
So if you're not supercharged, and your pipe diameter is the same as the AEM intake, go for it. Otherwise, don't bother.

im sorry to pop yours and there buble but yes it will work for your car, there are several companies that make that bypass valve to if you ahvee aturbo it wont work but our superchargers are directly bolted to our block, the bypass valve will work perfectly fine.

You obviously haven't been around the 1MZ-FE platform long enough. One of our own guys who had one of the first EL Prototypes CAI with the AEM bypass had problems later down the road. The rubber flaps almost got sucked into the intake after a few months of usage. There was a recall on the AEM Airbypass a couple years back already. That's why none of our guys have used the AEM bypass since his incidient. It's unfortunate too because the bypass failed during one of his runs at California Speedway when they first opened up the 1/4 mile runs back then. The aem air bypass is not necessary considering you wont be driving your car with CAI in a 1 foot deep pool of water in SoCal. And when it does rain, there's not enough water on the road to make it up the intake.

As for putting a mandrel bent piping extension to any intake...that's been done before. As for positive results, I really doubt just sticking a pipe on an existing intake is gonna be beneficial. Because the dynamics of the airflow has changed, the MAF sensor is not at its opitmal location when an intake is redesigned or rerouted. I'm not talking your intake down Danny, but there;s a reason why Cattman has taken so long in redo-ing their intake. They're actually doing the R&D and dynotesting to get the optimum horsepower figures from the CAI. It's not as simple as putting an extension on an existing intake. It doesn't work that way. The reason why I removed my Injen intake was because the design of the intake in proximity with the filter and MAF sensor naturally causes the car to run extra rich. Extra rich is better than lean...but rich conditions don't do wonders for your spark plugs or mileage.

I agree with Flipside, there is a science behind making a good CAI that actually works. Running a pipe to the foglight opening won't increase performance much, but kudos to you for trying! :-?

Hate to say it, but Flippys' right. The best way to shut us up though is to go to the fabricator, and have him Dyno his product. With figures to prove, you'll have many buyers.
