Cali Emmissions

What's up everyone.

I'm new to the forum, but followed it for a while. I'm in my 2nd 99 Solara (SLE v6 automatic w/ a s/c). I'm going to be moving from AZ to Cali early next year and am concerned about any emmission/street legal issues with any upgradesI have or plan to get. I want to do the URD fuel kit upgrade and the valve body tranny upgrade. I may do headers eventually too. Does anyone out there know if I'll have any issues?

Second...while I'm here...I've also contemplated doing the JP headers /exhaust package before I do the fuel upgrade...I have a TRD muffler, but not full CAT Back yet...any thoughts?

Thanks

You should probably be fine as long as your catalytic converter is still in place (if not, I heard of some loopholes), but too bad there's probably no out-of-state C.A.R.B. testing. However, I think there's some websites that list the smog criteria that you can Google and compare your current smog results with.

(If you don't know, CARB = California Air Resources Board)

check registration laws in AZ. Some states have smog, some states have smog + visual inspection, or visual inspection only. Even if it does pass smog (assuming AZ requires smog), it still may fail due to the visual inspection.

Here's the beauty of Toyota. As for exhaust, there is no difference between Cali and Fed emissions.

Years ago on Big 3 vehicles, Cali converters might have air injection or a heavier loading on the converter substrate. As for Toyota, all North American converters are at CARB spec.

(I'm not sure an changes to the ECU or EGR systems, but exhaust is the same.)
