$39 for a few (3) driving "lessons" and such... the date varies by location and there are 10 or so location that this will take place at.

Here's my info if anyone wants to join me and my friends :D

They will have a bunch of Mazdas there for you to test out, but everyone will compete in a Mazda 6 S (v6 220 hp)

This would be a fun meet to see which Solaraguys have skills

Orange County, California
Saturday 4/12/2003

if you can, you should go the same day we go! We're taking 2 (maybe even 3) camcorders, so we're going to get multiple angles (driver view if they let us...) and put them on a VCD so we can tease eachother afterward

I'm in an Asian-American Psychology class...

it's funny because we were listing stereotypes and for Koreans, the term

KP'd out

came up... then we look around the room to ask the Koreans if it's just a stereotype... they were all sitting together saying no LoL!

My friends and I are putting money in a pot to see who takes it home w/ the top time among us "newbies" We all have different advantages...

Me, I've been driving the longest (2 years longer than most of them)
Vic, he drives more than the others, and has some "racing" exp from granturismo3... haha
viet, he has a lot of "racing" exp from playing gt3... so he has the theory in the bag
doyle, he's been driving my old mazda... somehow mazda power? -_-
louie... he's survived multiple rollover accidents in his '86 4Runner :o

Results...

My friend Vic, came in first... I came in .021 seconds after him... (I think I won though seeing that I weigh 1.5x his weight...) then the other 3 were just funny....

My first score was 370ish, and my second run was around 470!
We barely fit the Brake and Turn clinic in before we had comp. 1... then we fit the Slalom in... but no test runs before it was already time for run 2...

Highlights... my friend went off course and got his first comp. lap DQd. Later... during THE TEST DRIVE... he managed to lose control of the Miata and knocked over more cones. This resulted in him getting an X on his MRIU id.

The Mazda 6S (220 hp v6 model) is definately a car to look at if you want something that handles really well (even in stock condition). The sport-shift on the 6S was really fun too! The RX-8 looks a lot better than my initial impressions of it a few years ago. Mazda is releasing their Mazdaspeed Miata next, and the employees think that the Mazdaspeed 6S will be on its way! Would I trade my Solara for a 6S? No... but I would buy one to add to the collection

I thought I'd only buy Toyotas for the rest of my life... but it seems that Mazda is coming back (my first car was a 91 Mazda 626 from my mom)

Everyone should definately go to this event, if it hasn't gone through your city yet (www.mazdarevitup.com) You'll have fun and learn how to handle emergency conditions while doing your normal driving :D

one more thing...

On the way in to El Toro AF, there is a gravel pit (20 feet or so long) separating the parking lot/airfield and the street... on my way out, a 350 Z got stuck in the gravel :D Its heavy rear end sunk in nicely!! It was a hilarious site! then 2 Supras (white TRD and silver blitz) rolled in
