8/24/08 Elmhurst, IL Toyota Car Show

Im thinking the lady and I might stay with our friend in chicago and just cruise out to the show sunday, chill for a while, then head back to GR. Ill talk to her about it and see if she wants to go.

From what i learned, if you ask a lady if they wants to go to car show, it will fail.
what you should do is if they wants to go shopping, and then mention about a little car show, that you kinda want to check it out.

just don't talk about the show too much, talk about those nice big malls and beautiful magnificent mile.

Here's my plan:

Friday:
I will take friday off and mosey on over to be there sometime around 5-6pm CST. I will be staying around the Oakbrook Area. (Woodfield is not far away)

Damon, when are you and the Alicia (did I get her name right?) planning on cruising over? There's lots to do in the area if the two of you wanted some alone time. I can also recommend some nice dining experiences if you are wanting to get your groove on and romance the little lady. (We can take that to PM or phone)

I plan to take a cruise around the area if anyone else is in town. If not, then I may swing up to Gurnee and bug Mike. (Talk him into getting that Phreakin' Awesome Gut bustin' Pizza he ordered before.)

Saturday:
Wipe the bugs off the car and clean her up a bit.

I will either head up and see Mike C at the lake. If this is cancelled I will try to arrange a fun run to Volo Auto Museum or we can caravan downtown to Comisky Park and see the Chicago White Sox play Tampa Bay at 2:55 pm or we could see the Chicago Cubs play Washington at 12:00pm. (You gotta like the choices!) We can get nosebleed seats pretty cheap and easy. (Just like my type of women.)

After the game we can cruise into the loop area and meet up with others. Get your car pictures with the Chicago skyline. Stuff like that.

Be back in the 'burbs whenever we want. Chicago never sleeps. We can do Blues clubs or any of the hundreds of bars and joints in the area. We can have lots of fun even if you don't or can't drink. (No drunk driving will be permitted. One person will hold the keys.)

Sunday:
Meet at Woodfield before the show. We should try to roll in at show time or a little early. Maybe we won't get parking by the grill. (My Z will be across the street. LOL)

Don't forget to bring parts for sale. There will be tables setup for selling parts. (Damon, I can carry some in my tiny trunk if you need.)

haha thanks brian, hopefully I wont have to sell that much stuff off of the car! and yes, alicia is right she is down for the show since we will be hanging with one of her old roomates saturday.

I think we would probably head down there friday night after we are done with work, so it could potentially be a little late. Saturday she will probably want to hang out and shop etc, so maybe I will plan on meeting up with you guys sunday morning before the show. of course, if it falls through or she decides not to go that weekend I will have more time to just chill with you guys.

I will not be able to get into town until Saturday evening, but I don't want to sit around Sat nite. Ive never been to Chicago nor do I know where Im going. Therefore I probably will avoiding driving downtown. Im coming up by myself and I don't want to be bored in the evening and Im more than willing to meet up with any of you at night to party or do whatever. Can you guys PM your cell numbers and I will do the same? If possible Id like to have a plan for Saturday nite where we can all meet and do something. Maybe the people who know their way around town can set something up because I really don't know what to expect if I drove downtown.

I just checked elmhurst toyota's event section.
roll in is at 10:00.
i think we should be at wood field latest around 9:30, so that hopefully we can get better section than usual....
if i remember right, i think we were at wood field something like 9:15 last year. (and still got the place by grille..... )

anyways, i saw that their flyer says that they have dyno.
it would be fun to see some of those supras on dyno machine.
(I saw one at the shop who did my turbo, and their supra was only halfway done... and i was already drooling all over it..)

If possible, I'd like to have someone handy with a camera ride shotgun with me when we cruise as a group. With the top down, we should be able to get a good collection of in motion shots.
