LOL! Here's a summary ...

Saturday

10am - 2pm'ish: (Lead by PhreakdOut) Open invite to detail cars together. Location: Doubletree Hotel Parking Garage - bottom floor. Next to Oakbrook Shopping Center. Drive to the Hooters Meet afterwards detailing. If we end early, I believe there is some kind of large arcade (like D&B) at the Woodfield Mall where we can kill some time till 6pm.
Address: 1909 Spring Road, Oakbrook, IL (Lower level of parking garage)
If there is time, I would like to take hi-res pictures of each of our cars. There are some good photo shoot locations close by. (Such as the McDonald's World HQ campus or Graue Mill)

6pm - whenever: (Lead by Sap Z) Meet at the parking lot behind Hooters at the Woodfield Mall in Schaumberg. Sap Z will post up details on the meeting place and cruise.
Address: 1110 Perimeter Dr, Schaumburg, IL 60173

Sunday

The show starts at 10am. Last year we rolled in around 11am and was placed along the fence row in back. Reggie was already there so he had a good spot. (Smart guy) Should we meet at 9:30am so we can get a decent spot?

Meeting Place: Same as above (Parking Lot behind Hooters.) Time: 9:30?? (To be determined)

The show is from 10am to 5pm at Elmhurst Toyota on Lake Street. This is about ½ hour from Woodfield.

I hope this helps clear up things.

0930 is great. I'm still a maybe on the Saturday events. We'll see what's left to be done. I'll keep the crew posted through Phreak and/or Tact.

btw... how many beer drinkers are we? I've got a blond that's down to about 1 gal. or a full 3 gal of a Red. Not sure which to bring. The Blonde is more of a Summer brew but if it's empty in an hour... noone wins. :drinking:
(Remember we're there 9-5 so plenty of time to down a few and be road worthy by the end.)

Officially, I can't support this. If you bring it I will do my best to help get rid of the evidence. Either is fine with me. I like blondes and reds.

LOL. Mike, please bring a wedge of fruit and a pretty little parasol for Reggie's drinks. (J/K) Perhaps we can find some girlie drinks on Sat night.

What Hotel to Stay At?

Postby tribander » Wed Aug 09, 2006 4:26 pm

Hey SolaraDudes,

Where will most of the out-of-town people who are coming in Sat morning stay overnight? Or, do we just work our arss off all night killing the beer and pass-out in the Sol?

I am thinking the Oakbrook IL Doubletree Hotel as that's where the detailing is taking place but want to make sure.

It's a nice hotel. Stayed there last year. I think the rate was just around $119. Hotels.com has it for $99. Not bad at all. The mall is right across the street. (Very nice) It was just remodeled this year so I'm looking forward to it.

Sap, you're a hoot. Don't tell my wife about me and Tacti!

Seriously, my family is going to already be there when I arrive. My wife scheduled a business trip downtown and is taking my daughter with. So, my two bed room is already full.

Elmhurst Toyota has reserved a block of rooms at the Springhill Hotel next door to the show. $79/ night.

410 West Lake Street
Elmhurst, Illinois 60126 USA
Phone: 1-630-782-6300

Also check Hotels.com on Friday. You can get some last minute deals for around $55. Check for hotels near Oakbrook, Elmhurst, Schaumberg, Villa Park, Oakbrook Terrace and Lombard. There are tons of hotels in the area and I know we can find one. You really don't need to sleep in the Solara. (I'm not going to let you do that.) :P

Any other out of towners? There's a deal on Orbitz for the Downers Grove ESA (Extended Stay America). $49 a night. Split that with another SG and it's hard to pass up. Depending on Saturday activities, I might just wanna camp down near the meet.

I'd totally let you crash her but the house is a sh** hole. I have several projects going involving crap all over the house and no way that's getting cleaned up by tomorrow. Plus I'm about an hour from the meet.

But before you sleep in your car, my sister lives in Carole Stream (20 min maybe) and would let you crash there. She's a vet has has three dogs and like 8 cats, but it's better than a rest stop.

I'll ring you on your cell.

I really appreciate your advice.
one of my really good friends told me that i can stay at his house, but you know, i will comedown on Sat, and spend whole day washing/detailing car, and cruising, and need to leave early on Sun.
I think it's pretty disrespectful to his family, even tho he would be okay with it.
I should be fine sleeping at the rest area, since i've done it before, and it is pretty warm out there.

anyways.. my car hasn't been washed for about a week and a half, and it looks really bad.
I don't think i have time tonight to wash,
so don't be surprised when you see my car... it's covered by bugs all front end...

i'll see you tomorrow!!!!!

Leaving Detroit area around 3pm EST.

Y'all feel free to hit me up on the cell at anytime. I'll be checking SG when I get to the hotel. If I'm stuck in typical Chicago gridlock, I'll be on SG then. (I love this Verizon broadband card.) LOL
