Its a really good event to try out what your car can do. I'll be entering my Camry to represent and whoever wants to go can post here or go directly to the Private Events Forum and find out the details.

Subject: Febuary 21st at ButtonWillow –West Loop - President Day

Signups for running the East Loop Button Willow are open.

It will be limited to 16 drivers, signups are on a first come first serve basis.

Please contact Events@4whldft.com to register. Include your full name, contact information, emergency contact information, car make, model, and color.

Payment can be made through paypal to the above address. If payments are made through paypal it will be $135 with the online fee processing. Or you can pay Al or Erik in cash, $130.

Half days are not available at this time.

Please contact events@4whldft.com or private_events@yahoo.com for any questions regarding payment or additional information.

Other information:

Track gates open at 7am. We’d like you to arrive at 7 in order to be ready for the drivers meeting at 8:15am, attendance to the drivers meeting is MANDATORY. If you miss the meeting we cannot let you run until you’ve been briefed and your first session will be at 10AM.

First session starts at 8:30am.

Rules off track:

Paddock speeds are 5mph. Strictly enforced.

Payment can be made through paypal to the above address. If payments are made through paypal it will be $135 with the online fee processing. Cash at the track or otherwise will no longer be accepted. Sorry, we just spend too much time running the event to be collecting payments on the day of the event. We will still accept check or cash payments mailed or hand delivered to Al or Erik.

Please contact events@4whldft.com or private_events@yahoo.com for any questions regarding payment or additional information.

Other information:

We want to mention some safety issues that have come up in past events. Our #1 goal during a track day is to prevent an accident. Do not show up without a safe car or you will not be allowed to run.

Problems we’ve seen in the past-

Missing lug nuts or broken wheel studs.

Improperly mounted battery. If they are mounted behind the firewall they must be securely mounted in a battery box with a top bolted or strapped in place.

Harnesses- if you use one it should be mounted to a roll bar or behind the seat- but not less than a 45 degree angle from the seat back.

Take everything that is not bolted down out of your car. This includes floor mats.

Convertibles must have either a hardtop or SCCA approved roll bar kit. A custom bar to SCCA specs will also be allowed. Email events@4whldft.com if you are not sure.

Video camera's or other recording equipment must be securely attached to the car, in addition, a security strap must be attached to the device that prohibts it from falling on the ground or touching the driver or passengers.

Drivers will rotate hourly to the corner worker positions. The schedule will be posted once signups are completed. There will generally be one or two drivers at each station. The schedule can change as people sometimes cannot make it to the event or they break down and leave early.

Spot cancellation has to be two weeks before the event.
If anything after two weeks then you can still get a refund if someone else can take your place from the waiting list.

Don’t forget to bring along extra parts for your car, tools, oil, and especially tires. Bring food and water, the cafe is usually closed.

Closed toe shoes are required for drivers.

BBQ’s and tents are allowed and are an easy way to make friends.

Rules off track:

Paddock speeds are 5mph. This rule is not being followed closely enough, do not speed through the pits.

SA 95 or M95 Helmets or newer. If you have extra helmets bring them along for passengers or as a loaner. We cannot rent helmets from Button Willow for this event. We highly advise having a face shield on the helmet. Owners of SA95 helmets, your time is quickly approaching where these helmets will no longer be accepted. Please keep in mind that you must soon purchase a new helmet with an updated rating. We will be inspecting helmets at this event. (With all the time we save not collecting payments)

Cars may be subject to tech inspection before going out on track, but it will be the responsibility of the driver to have their vehicle ready. This means that there is nothing loose inside the car when you drive. Floor mats, items in the glove box, center console, loose change...take out everything. You will not be allowed on track otherwise.

Secure items in the engine bay such as the battery, oil catch can, gerbils for you rotary owners, and anything else that could possibly fall off the car. Or our favorite...could move and melt on your exhaust manifold and have something STUPID like your wiring harness burn up. (Cough, Al)

No drugs or alcohol will be tolerated at the track.

The hot pits will be open, so no standing on the pit walls. You can view the track better from the officiating building anyway. Both the viewing stand and hot pit will be pointed out during the drivers meeting. If not, ask where they are.

Spectators are welcome but must stand in designated areas. If you want to take photos from somewhere on the track please talk to Al or Erik before the event or after the drivers meeting.

You are solely responsible for any damages or loss too your equipment while at the track. Realize that if you have car contact or crash because of "someone else", you are still ultimately responsible for any damages to your equipment.

Rules ON TRACK:

Helmets must be worn at ALL TIMES while on the track. This includes passengers. Make sure the chin strap is tightened.

DO NOT EXIT YOUR VEHICLE WHILE ON TRACK. Unless your car is on fire, you are safer staying inside the vehicle until instructed otherwise. EVEN IF IT IS UPSIDE DOWN.

Windows must be down before entering the track. Sunroofs closed, or T-Tops removed.

If you have 2 or more wheels go off track you must come into the hot pit to have your car checked. If you break this rule you will be black flagged off the track.

We will have corner workers on some corners, pay attention to the signals they may give out. Corner workers must be obeyed. When you are out on track they are the ONLY authority out there. The corner worker flags will be covered in the drivers meeting as will the use of the corner workers radios.

Car contact is not allowed. This is not a race.

When pulling into the hot pit, signal the cars behind you with a raised fist out the window that you are pulling into the pits.

Other than driver hand signals, do not stick anything out of the windows. This includes passengers.

Passing Rules:

Passing on the left is preferred. No passing in corners.

The person being passed MUST give a point by signal before being passed. Use your hand to point to the car behind you which side you wish to be passed on. If you wish to be passed on the right, point your hand OVER the roof of your car to the right hand side.

If a car will not let you pass, pull into the hot pits and wait for a break in traffic to continue driving. Do not get impatient.
