Introduction
I'm Sam Hunter, and have owned a 2002 silver Solara SLE convertible since it was new in May of 2002. Other than regular servicing, one set of tires, new brakes at 40000 miles, and a new battery after 7 years, the car hasn't hasn't required any repairs. It sat on the street in Berkeley for the first 8 years of its life (we didn't have a garage), and the original top is still in excellent condition. Now it lives in my garage since we moved.
I wouldn't give the Solara up for anything. I considered buying a new Lexus convertible in 2009, but thought, why? My Solara only had 45,000 miles on it then, and it's still in near mint condition (a few unkind people have dinged it with their doors in parking lots) at 53K. My question is, does anyone know how many SLE convertibles were made in that year? Thanks.
