Hello Solaraguy.com!

Hey everyone! New to the site, not new to Toyotas. My name is Mitch, and I'm currently a college junior studying public relations.

I recently was given a 1999 Toyota Solara, base model I believe (no SE or SLE markings). Here's a few pictures :D

Shes basically my winter beater so I don't have to drive my MR2 around NWPA salt and snow.

Good:
-5SFE runs great, even with 246k original miles. Slight oil burning, not worried about it.
-Leather isn't ripped. Worn, but intact and clean.
-Power sunroof, windows, mirrors, locks, and drivers seat all work great.
- new front brake pads.

Needs work:
-Hardcore rot under drivers side door. Haven't gotten to it yet, but I don't think it'll pass inspection the way it is.
-Tires. Front drivers side is on the spare because the other tire had a bubble in it. BUT, the good news is that I got 4 free tires along with my free car. 8)
-Rear brakes. Shoes are shot, already replaced them.
-Rims are nasty looking. They're really stained, beyond repair. Thinking about picking up some cheapies...
-Front brakes. Original drivers side caliper blew on my way home. Ordered the caliper, should be changed Thusday.
-Steering wheel shakes pretty bad upwards of 45 mph. Hoping its the horrible tires that are on it. Once I get the new ones on there, I'll diagnose it.
-Front sway bar endlinks clunking.

So, all in all I think it's gonna be a good winter driver once I get the issues fixed. It runs like brand new, still has a lot of pull (for a 5SFE) left in it. Just needs a little overdue love.

Thanks! The MR2 is definitely the attention whore of the 2. I've put a lot of work into it.

And yeah, the Solara is definitely not nearly to the same caliber as probably 99.5 percent of the ones on this site. But I think it'll clean up nice. I'll post some better pictures soon.

Welcome to SG! Great looking mr2 you got there. I'm jealous of the pit in your garage.
